I, too, was always Heinz, however, due to this thread alone, I tried Branston.
I am converted. Far more substance and flavour. There is a marked quality difference in the flatulence department also
Out of interest, have our food counters done a quantity comparison now that they have nothing to do on matchdays ?

Aldi's own are way better than Heinz that taste nothing like they used to.

Wow! I had not realised he was responsible for our beans as well!

My peristalsis has never been so accurate, timely, and dare I say it, enjoyable. I put a laptop table opposite the toilet.

Massive fan of Branstons but in Lidl earlier and though would try the Newgate beans they sell. Very very impressed. Plenty of beans in the tin and a lovely sauce. On a par if not better than Branstons on first try

I tried the Tesco 'Healthy Living' brand - they're actually not as healthy as the Heinz reduced sugar, which I was having anyway. I'll still have these until they're gone, but the Heinz reduced sugar are the best I've had.

Seeing this thread bumped up, I realise I never posted my conclusions. Branston are by far the superior baked beans.

A guy I work with warms butter in a frying pan, adds the beans then a couple of cap fulls of whisky, turn the heat up burn of the alcohol and the beans really do taste amazing.

I need to try this.

The reduced sugar ones are fine. Try them, I doubt you'll notice any difference.

Great thread. I like to dice an onion, fry it in butter, any cheap beans in, salt, pepper, mixed herbs, mature cheddar. On crumpets. Terrific.

Wouldn't touch anything but Heinz until about 5 years ago. I used to laugh off the prospect of trying BRANSTON beans.
Now I won't touch Heinz, Branston for the win!
(Bit of butter, roughly diced onion, worse-chester-shire sauce, paprika, cumin, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, bacon and smoked sausage slowly cooked for an hour or so makes some great side BBQ beans for your BBQ ribs, pork etc)
