Morgan wrote:Quite why folk think the astronomical money for broadcasting rights will keep going up is beyond me. Sky's football viewing figures have dropped alarmingly because so many viewers are finding ways to watch without paying. They might be the ones currently supplying 32 cameras to cover each and every game but Rupert's not going to do that ad infinitum if he starts to lose out. Whether the names you mention will pick up the baton (and pay a shed load more?) Is open to question.
There was a good programme on Talksport over Christmas where Simon Jordan was talking about this. He suggested that it's no coincidence that the Premier League tried to recruit a broadcaster (Susanna Dinnage) as their new Chief Exec. He thinks that the aim of the Premier League is to become the broadcaster of their own content, and they have 3 years to do it which is when the current deal runs out. At that point, they can deliver content on a Netflix style model (the ban on 3pm Saturday broadcasts will go) with Netflix style prices, worldwide. So instead of mucking about with Sky and BT with people paying high fees to get football along with content they don't necessarily want, they'll charge a lower fee and get more subscribers. 50m people worldwide paying 10 quid a month? The money could go through the roof.
IPTV will do to football what illegal downloading has done to music consumption.

Should be a healthy profit reported. In normal time Garlick has usually commented on the club’s financial position by now - but after the disaster that was the summer transfer window, I think he knows such a statement would not be taken well by supporters. Rightfully so.
I would suspect we've made our usual £20 - £ 25m profit, and it will probably be early April before the accounts are released, if the last 3 years are anything to go by .....

#BurnleyFC are in the best debt situation of all Premier League clubs (#CFC also have no debt in football club, but £1.2 bln in holding company). They do owe £23m in transfer fees, but are owed £28m by other clubs. As Garlick said, “player sales typically only paid over 3 years.”
What does the bit in bold mean? Do Chelsea owe that money or not? If whoever the holding company is want that money back, what do?

That Chelsea figure jumped £75m last season and they need another £1bn to rebuild the ground - which is why it is on hold - though with Spurs projected to join the £100m matchday revenue club - how much longer can they wait

I think Abramovich is waiting for the situation regarding Russia and the EU to be clarified.
But you are quite correct, they can't put this off if they are going to keep up with the other big clubs.
