Ryan Mason
Re: Ryan Mason
Its Health before wealth every time I'm affraid.
Hope he can stay involved in football some way, should he wish too, and it has zero health risks.

Re: Ryan Mason
Was January last year - we were on our way back from Arsenal when we heard about it and the Daily Mirror was headlining with 'Fighting for his life" which he wasn't. You just think he's going to get fit and come back but if the surgeons suggest you don't then it is undoubtedly the correct decision.
Nothing said, but I would think there will be a role for him in the game should he want it. The lad's only 26.

Re: Ryan Mason
Wow that's a real shame for him.
Hopefully he can forge a new career still connected with the sport if he chooses too.

Re: Ryan Mason
I assume that he has some kind of insurance in place which means he won't lose out too much financially? Or is this something only clubs take out?MACCA wrote:Its Health before wealth every time I'm afraid.

Regardless though, it must be a terrible blow for him - similar (albeit a different issue) to Muamba and cricketer James Taylor.

Re: Ryan Mason
A real shame. He got 1 England cap and was a very promising young player.
Re: Ryan Mason
I'm sure there is insurance in place, but no one can predict future wages, signing on fees etc. I'm sure he won't be on the dole, but won't earn a fraction of what he would have.Foulthrow wrote:I assume that he has some kind of insurance in place which means he won't lose out too much financially? But as I say, a healthy life is worth far more than any finance, and I'm sure there will be some role for him in the game should he want it, even if it is a coach/pundit.

Re: Ryan Mason
He's apparently been at Tottenham's training ground today, possibly looking at doing his coaching badges.

Re: Ryan Mason
Here's hoping he remains healthy enough to enjoy his retirement; things could have turned out a lot worse.
