Donald, have you never watched "The Great Escape" at Christmas? Whilst you're spending 4 years building your poxy wall the Mexican cartels will be busy building a labrynth of tunnels that pop up in the grounds of a thousand afficanados already living in New Mexico, Texas, California.

Or maybe they'll just blast almighty holes in it from a safe distance and stream through :-)

I loved the more recent series when they moved the Transporter Bridge (or something) to Arizona (or somewhere else near a Native American territory.

We could also sell (lend lease, anyone?) them some JCBs. It will help get the wall built faster than the Great Wall of China.

With all these drones and other things that fly (and ladders ?) will a wall be effective?

Oops, PDT won't buy any Brit made JCBs. How good are the John Deere and other back hoes?

And, Evil Kenevil (sp?) has shown how to jump over it.

Have you read Alexandra Petri, Washington Post: "The true, correct story of what happened at Donald Trump's inauguration."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If that link doesn't work - just google ComPost blog Petri Trump's Inauguration

Worth it.

Donald will build his wall.

Trying to be balanced here, as is my MO, I have very little doubt he will succeed in making them pay one way or another.

He can tax or prevent $ being sent there to families from Mexicans here
He can place trade embargoes that amazingly add up to the cost
He can err...... incentivize US companies with plant/production/administration there to repatriate, impacting local economies very specifically
He can increase interest rates on Mexican debt

The point is there are many offset mechanisms he can employ, and more importantly stand up and say he did it. It might not be the chèque book method, but it nets out. It's his biggest driver

Maybe he thinks that if he makes protesting illegal he can use all these new criminals that protest anyway to build the wall without having to pay for labour, you know, like back in the good ol' days before Lincoln.

Will that make up for the $25 billion estimated cost?

I'm sure I've read that the vast majority of illegal immigrants into the US get there by overstaying their visas rather than crossing the border illegally anyway. Something like 80-90%?

I think it's something like 70% of illegal immigrants from Mexico fly over the border on a commercial plane. The wall is already not doing its job.

Did you actually read that link, IT? One of the most poorly written articles I've come across, with repetitive cut and pastes. And nowhere do I suggest addressing the trade deficit as a methodology.

You're lucky I'm not bluelabrador - there'd be at least six counter-urls in this response

There's no way i can avoid coming across as rubbing your nose in it, you're just going to have to believe me when I say i'm not. But based on his cabinet picks and his conduct since becoming President-elect, are you happy or disappointed with how this "anti-establishment" future president is setting things up?

His most recent cabinet pick being apparently being Exxon Mobil's CEO.

So to make this wall/fence thingy actually work they're going to have to build watch towers every few hundred yards and place guards in them? There's possibly a few people still around in eastern Germany who might have just the experience required for such a job.
