Re: Snodgrass
Anyone else suspect we may be trying to really load pressure on Norwich? I think we may be, this Burnley board are no set of clowns, and will want the best deal!
Don't get me wrong would be very happy to see RS tearing the left wing apart against Leicester on Tuesday neet!

Hull City by the looks of things have leaked it - trying to spark the others into action to get the fee up it appears.Inchy wrote:I wonder who leaked this news?
Could it be his agent to ensure the likes of West Ham know what's required?

Re: Snodgrass
I'm confident that Snodgrass WON'T be signing. He'll go to another Prem club.
It'll be part of the Brady-related shenanigans. Us and Hull probably doing each other amurial favour to put pressure on elsewhere.

Re: Snodgrass
Brady is still possible.
Think it's a case of having a couple of irons in the fire.
We don't want to get fawazed again do we.
I still think Brady is the favourite.

If West Ham sign Snoggrass then hopefully they won't be interested in Brady.
Id rather compete with the likes of Middlesbrough for Brady than West Ham

The Henri Lansbury saga over the last few transfer windows has led me to be rather cautious of "done deals".

This is far from cut and dry according to a few sources.

Don't for a moment believe that this is a ploy simply to do the Brady deal.

Sorry for post 51 got pipped by others whilst typing it. Hope it does happen but the SSN info bar will change in next couple of hours to WHUFC have bid of 10.5 mill accepted!!
Norwich need to call us and accept the 10 mill for Brady!

I don't think that hull will be expecting a bidding war, it will be Snodgrass' agent who will be waiting by the phone. It wouldn't surprise me if West Am match our bid and he goes there.

Nobody in their right mind would try to outbid an already accepted figure. Apart from Man City of course.

Re: Snodgrass
I suspect that this is all some sort of game to try and force the hand of Norwich on the Brady deal. As others have stated already, wages would be a major stubbling block on this one.
Personally I'd prefer Brady for the long term, however Snodgrass quality would be massive for us.
I'd love to have both but come on be realistic

Sky Sports reporting Middlesbrough also offered £10m but their offer was structured differently

You maybe giving Hulls owner too much credit here. I hear he's a bit of a barn pot so he maybe expect a bidding war

Re: Snodgrass
At the very least, this suggests that Hull have resigned themselves to the likelihood of relegation. So there would be a silver lining if he goes elsewhere.
Re: Snodgrass
Struggling to think how releasing this info would spark a bidding war. Surely any team wanting him would bid the same. Can't see West Ham with their owners bidding more than that. Why would they?

Re: Snodgrass
That's what is barmy.....bid accepted can't really spark a bidding war now can it. We won't pay Snodgrass' wages though in pretty sure in that
Re: Snodgrass
2 of the 3 bookmakers offering odds on this do not have Burnley as favourites to sign Snodgrass. West Ham favourites.
Long way from being a done deal

Re: Snodgrass
A few sports reporters, including some from Burnley are very skeptical of this happening.
Strange how the 15 minutes of jubilation of this fee being accepted has ended and the negativity has started.
Not to say that this is a done deal, and it does seem like there's more to it than just him coming and signing, but it's straight from joy to disappointment. Maybe it's just part and parcel of being a Burnley fan.

Because buying players is like a blind auction in some ways, buying parties should not know what the other is bidding.taio wrote:Can someone explain this bidding war concept when it seems they've already accepted our bid?
And usually the selling club will only publicly say he's worth about twice what they'd probably take for him.
So by making public a price they would accept it allows other teams to zero in on the price and decide If they want to increase it with a high chance of the offer being accepted.
Edit: Hull have shouted 'Going once..!'

Fair point. And there probably is still a way to go. But I suspect those that are commenting along those lines don't have a clue. Some of the comments on this thread alone aren't dissimilarClaretAndJew wrote:A few sports reporters, including some from Burnley are very skeptical of this happening.

Re: Snodgrass
Has definitely been suggested but no one can come up with a rational explanation of how that could be so. Presumably Hull are satisfied with £10m and if other clubs meet that valuation presumably they will leave it to Snodgrass and crucially his agent to decide.Inchy wrote:I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting there is going to be a bidding war for him

Re: Snodgrass
Skybet have us at 4/6 to sign him, boro are 7/2 and West Ham are 5/1.
Bookies aren't often wrong but 5/1 is a decent price if you think the hammers are nailed on!!

Re: Snodgrass
The only rational explanation is that Hulls Chairman is a bit nuts
Re: Snodgrass
Matched bids and outbidding on wages are possibilities. Or just that he wants too much in wages anyway.
Got to be a 4 year contract. We keep getting short deals which will bite us in the bum, if the player is at all successful.

Re: Snodgrass
Burnley odds-on with 2 of 3 bookies (Sky Bet and VC Bet) but 2/1 still with William Hill who have West Ham at 11/10.
The Robbie Brady prices have not shifted for days.
VC Bet have now removed their quote on Burnley Sky Bet even money. Things are happening somewhere.

It's on the BBC Sport website. I hope they are correct. It also says Brady is off to Palace.
