David Jones
Re: David Jones
One of our most important signings in the last 10 years.
We went from a team that was constantly giving the ball away with runners like Chris McCann to at last having an intelligent player who could keep and distribute the ball.
Under Dyche he was a major part of our tactics.
In addition to his ability he was a great lad - always the first (and last) to acknowledge the crowd and he had the respect of all the rest of the team and everyone at the club.
It was cringable in the extreme when a few boo boys started coming out against him at the Turf.

Re: David Jones
I for one was very sad when he left as I thought he was an integral part of our success. My son knew him and said he was a really nice guy.

Re: David Jones
Nice guy he may be, dedicated and hard working yes. But extremely limited as a footballer. Would have Chris McCann all day over Jones.

Re: David Jones
Jones has proved throughout his career he's too good for the championship but not quite good enough for the premier league.
With all respect to Mcann, he was no where near the standard of Jones. Maybe it's due to injuries who knows, but Jones was one of the few vital players who came in and helped transform our Club. Some of the comments about him are laughable.

He also battled well, with Scotty in the middle with him (who think everyone will agree was playing out of position).
That evening game when Barton came in alongside him (Rotherham?), he was superb.
Jones played our system and, nearly always did it well.

Re: David Jones
It's all about opinions. Jones never went in for challenges, was weak in the air, had a limited passing range, set pieces were hit and miss, couldn't take anyone on and carry the ball. Was awful when pressured usually passing to a marked player.
But he kept a defensive shape and held players up allowing someone else to challenge them.
All these people saying you don't know football if you think he's a bad player, please tell me what he could actually do.

Re: David Jones
I'm still waiting for a list of Jones actual positive attributes.
Funny how he seems to get found out everywhere he's been.

Re: David Jones
Right whinger, we won automatic promotion with him in a starting midfield birth, TWICE. He's also been promoted from the championship on other occasions. All of your assumptions are wrong and makes me think you've never actually watched him play.
He could pass, and retained possession well, admittedly he was a little too one footed. That was his job in our system, and had he not done it we would have fallen apart. We didn't, so how can you even come out with this nonsense?

Re: David Jones
Gets found out?!?!? At what point did he get found out??? Helped us gain promotion twice. I'm not here to tell you Jones is a premier league starter but he's at the very least a top end championship player. Your making him out like some bin dipper from Town Park. Show some respect to somebody who was great for our club. C***.

Re: David Jones
So he could pass to someone else, and retain possession ( really means passes 10 yards sideways or backwards) That about it? Thought so.boyyanno wrote:Right whinger, we won automatic promotion with him in a starting midfield birth, TWICE. He's also been promoted from the championship on other occasions. The Juke also got promoted with us does that make him a good player also?
Re: David Jones
Right winger is a proper Tim Sherwood.

How the hell did we manage that when we were carrying him?

Belmtard.

Right whinger you make yourself look a moron when you don't read posts properly. I said Jones was promoted Twice with us, which you ignore comparing him to Juke, what about his other promotions? I also wonder how many games Jones played in comparison to Juke?
You're absolutley right, he retained possession and kept it simple, somthing that in the right system is crucial, if he was so poor then why did he stay and play for so long? Why were we so successful with him?
My thoughts on this are that you have no understanding about football whatsoever, but I'm probably wrong...
You're probably just a bells end.
Re: David Jones
I'm not sure how many assists Jones got last season, but I think he got more than any other Burnley player apart from Gray.

Re: David Jones
The usual when people can't actually debate a point they resort to name calling. Typical mindset of the intolerant liberals.
I know what I see as do many others. Jones was free ( as he was that good) and basically a player who Dyche liked because he applied himself in training and followed instructions. thats all he had. End of story. If
People think he is a good player then you must be very easily entertained/ pleased.

Fans have differing views of players, live it with it.
Posted assuming you aren't Jones, his best mate or immediately family.

There's no point arguing with people of limited mental capacity. Especially if they don't actually understand what you have written.

As opposed to your good self with oodles of mental capacity/actually mental. I'd re-read what you posted clever arse.
Re: David Jones
Maybe a slight ott 3putt but to read that load of tripe took me back a bit. I still think he should have more respect for someone who's been a key player in our recent successes. Goes down as another legend in my book.

Re: David Jones
Is David Jones not playing much for Wednesday? I thought he'd be a cracking signing for them. Shame really. He did a great job for us and came across as an intelligent, level-headed person.
Re: David Jones
My dog was free, really applied himself in training and follows instructions , but he hasn't as yet won 5 promotions, and being honest he is nowhere near as good as Jonah.Right_winger wrote:The usual when people can't actually debate a point they resort to name calling. Don't even say that as a ******* joke. Still trying to work out how he managed to shrink by three feet every time he jumped.TheFamilyCat wrote:It's worse than some of you think. It's not that David Jones we're trying to sign.
I'd sooner have the David Jones who used to work for Radio Lancashire and he looked like he'd barely fit into the centre circle.

Re: David Jones
It won't happen nor should it, we've moved on.
But we've moved on because of Jones, excellent performer in that incredible season of 3 free transfers and Ross and Deano on reduced wages cos we had no takers.
He made all the difference when we were skint and on our arse by introducing some solid consistant professionalism that stood him out as the missing link.
Like I say, I wouldn't want him back we can now afford better, but posters slagging off Jones are missing the point, he was incredibly important to where we are today.
