"Shoulda Woulda Coulda"

People say that together we were both sides of the same coin
That we would shine like Venus in a clear night sky
We thought our love could overcome the circumstances
But my ambition wouldn't allow for compromise

I could see in the distance all the dreams that were clear to me
Every choice that I had to make left you on your own
Somehow the road we started down had split asunder
Too late to realise how far apart we'd grown.
How I wish I, wish I'd done a little bit more

Now " Shoulda woulda coulda," means I'm out of time
Coz "Shoulda woulda coulda", can't change your mind
And I wonder, wonder, wonder what I'm gonna do
"Shoulda woulda coulda" are the last words of a fool

People ask how it feels to live the kind of life others dream about
I tell them everybody gotta face their highs and their lows
And in my life there's a love I put aside, cause I was busy loving something else
So for every little thing you hold on to, you've got to let something else go

[Chorus]

Fool if I would now forsake the opportunities are fate
I know I'm right where I belong
But sometimes when I'm not so strong I..

[Chorus (x2

Don't really have a major issue with the above if used in correct context.
"Shoulda" is clearly an abbreviated "urban slang" for "should 'ave", whereas "should of" just makes no sense at all.

Don't really understand what you mean by that?
Just to clarify:
Most people would assume that the slang abbreviations "Shoulda" or Coulda" or "Woulda" refer to the past tense of "have", or to give it its local pronunciation "av", whereas "should of" - (following a verb with a preposition), makes no sense at all.

If I read this right, as I play Monopoly and take a ride on the Reading, if say the sky is red, and you tell me I'm reading from the wrong Hymn Book, then so what? I'm sewing my oats, and making a purse out of a sow's ear. Blame it on the Danes, it all comes from their language.

Unfortunately not... this was TJ " Jack " Longstaff, at QEGS during the 1970's... he was my first year form master, and trust me, my friend, you wouldn't get his name wrong either !! ;)
Actually I should have realised that it wasn't the late Mr Langstaffe, since I don't think anyone ever dared ask if they could be excused to go the toilet during his lessons!
Biddy - got me with: What's taciturn mean? The irony was lost on me at the time. Such memories :) RIP Biddy.

Siddo says to me - "You are unhappy with the would of thread because you are one of the main offenders! You should have posted this on that thread."

My reply

Eh main offenders?
I disagree, however..

Do you honestly think people try and make grammar or spelling errors?

People who use their phones to post often make mistakes as their phone recognises frequently used text speak and changes it for you. So unless you proof read it there are often little errors.

We all ( well most ) know what they are trying to say, the error of spelling rarely changes the point they are trying to make.

If you picked apart every post, lots would contain some sort of error.

If it angers you that much, I think it says more about you as a person than them.

Double negatives - we all use 'em.

"It's not going to rain I don't think"
" Hull City won't win today I don't think"
