Never once had a problem up tstoops, wandered about late at night no bother. Lived on Accy rd for a bit and my car got broken into twice but never felt unsafe walking about at night. Think its become the thing of legend and folklore in part due to the riots in 92. Also lived deep in enemy territory on the Shad for 4 years and at worst it was just the occasional pished up chavs who were brave after 6 bottles of wkd and a couple of e's. More recently I lived close to Merseybank in Manchester which had a bit more of an edge to it.
Writing that has got me thinking about doing a Ross Kemp style TV programme
