Ronaldo
Re: Ronaldo
I'm not disputing what Ronaldo (new) has achieved, nor that it's remarkable. By your reckoning there, Messi is definitely better than Ronaldo - goals, assists, player of year etc.
For longevity and consistency, I couldn't dispute that he trumps his namesake. Both at their absolute prime though (and yes one has had more prime) it's not as cut and dry, far from it.

Re: Ronaldo
The original Ronaldo, with the liestyle of the current would be the greatest player ever was and will be. But injuries and other things put paid to that.
His strength, skill, speed and finishing was naturally as good as anyone. The only problem was his conditioning and fitness.
On stats and records etc you cant look past the current ronaldo. But the original is the most exciting player i ever saw.
Another thing to note. In The original Ronaldos day players were allowed to tackle. It was only 1998 sliding from behind was outlawed. But even then it was still a physical competetive game. His desire to score was second to none.
Look at his goal against compostela. You will never see one like that in the modern game.

Re: Ronaldo
I saw the original Ronaldo live at Old Trafford in the champs league.
He played about an hour, scored 3 got subbed and the whole ground gave him a standing ovation. That hour was probably the best live performance I have ever seen.

Yeah, played in black still managed to stand out with players like Figo & Zidane in the same team.

Re: Ronaldo
Spot on, and it's rare I agree with you, but on this - definitelyKRBFC wrote:and I could pull twice the amount of quotes from footballers claiming CR7 to be the best ever. Twice the amount of Ballon D'ors, a miles better scoring record from a wide position. The main part of your post was " had it not been for injuries, he COULD HAVE". How can anyone seriously compare a player who COULD HAVE to one that's done what CR7 has. The main difference between the two is Cristiano did what Ronaldo couldn't. Again, you're forgetting CR is a winger, a winger who scores 50+ goals a season, incredible really. Compare him to a winger like Hazard, remarkable.

Re: Ronaldo
Ronaldo is the best of his generation. Truly believe he can play at the top level until he is 40. He takes such great care of himself. I think that is what will separate him from all the other greats when we look back in years to come.
With all this LGBT stuff going on wouldnt it be amazing if he came out and told us what we already know. The world's greatest footballer coming out would surely encourage other players to do the same.

Re: Ronaldo
Neither Messi nor Ronaldo would look quite so good if they had to come up against Ben Mee every week.
