Some players will always be fondly remembered by fans. Steve Davis will never be fondly remembered by all. A great player for us no doubt. Far more respect for a former player that scores against us with muted or no celebration. It didn't work out for him when we were left in the absolute sh*t. The club has moved on.

Steve Davis is a Burnley legend I remember before every away match when the players we're warming up shouting Stevie on my head and more time than not he would pick me out class.I also remember big John Gayle doing the same for my mate and nearly taking his head of at Chester greatest days of my life.

Wow....it's cut you up a lot lot more than it should do.

I don't know which team Steve Davis supported before joining Burnley (Southampton ?) but are you saying every subsequent team was his employer ? (Including Burnley).

Maybe his fist pump was because the team where he has spent the happiest and longest part of his career did not make him the offer of a job he thought he deserved....and he was a little pis-sed off at the club and the abuse he was getting from the fans.

One of the great Burnley players of my youth, served the club well, left acrimoniously but it was nearly 10 years ago and I'm over it.

You're spot on in your first paragraph of post 16 Clarets4me. Davis was left in limbo by a member of the board re his future at Burnley, due to that board member having to deal with something more important than football at the time and leaving Davis wondering if he would still have a job.
How many people on here who if they were in real danger of losing their job and facing the prospect have having no income and with a mortgage would hang about out of loyalty to their firm, if they were given another job opportunity.
I didn't like him punching the air, but how many times have we punched the air when has scored, or helped us greater things.

You are taking me a little more serious than you should do.

See ya later No way back
Tend to agree, and times have moved on, he says he is happy, and i think most, if not every Burnley Fan is looking forward now to the future, all industries lose staff, for various reasons, Early 2010 he left for better things, seven years, thanks Stevie mate, decent player, but time to move on in my eyes..

The problem with these type of interviews is that you really need balance. It would have been far more informative if Barry Kirby had been sat in the studio with him.

As our manager he has a 100 per cent record. Great club servant.
