Oldham. I don't need to explain why. Anyone who has been there recently will know.

Agree with this one - been staying at the holiday inn and Travelodge recently with work. Can't find a decent boozer within walking distance and always feel threatened if I'm out after dark - especially the short walk with my laptop bag from the car park to the hotel - always seem to be a group looking for opportunities to pounce. Found a 'lady of the night' calling card under my wipers one morning......

Makes Burnley look like the Cotswolds

Jacob's Well, and the bars on North Parade are all top notch, and arguably better than anywhere Burnley has to offer. Definite walking distance too.

I agree that it is amazing - gobsmackingly amazing. But would you want to live there?! It's great to visit but the road out of there back to the rest of Kent is a welcome sight.

No, not yet but I will now - seeing that his trip ends in Dungeness!

Bradford's fine tbh. Depends where you are in Bradford of course, but the city centre has been undergoing something of a renaissance recently. I often go for a night out in Bradford as a cheaper alternative to Leeds.

If you mean the Travelodge out by Thorbury roundabout... I agree, it's bloody aweful round there.

Anyway, places I'm glad I don't live:
Cleethorpes
+1 for Barrow-in-Furness
... and alas a +1 for Burnley too :-(

 I grew up there and left 20 yrs ago this summer.
I hardly go back there now unless I abolutely have too.

It used to be better-ish in the 80's & 90's , but they've knocked down most things worth seeing/using like the Fun Fair and the Sun Centre.

I've no idea why people still go to Rhyl on holiday though, but there are still places in nearby areas worth a look I suppose like Snowden/Betws-y-Coed, Conway, Llandudno/Great Orme etc.

I like Bradford. Love the large open spaces in the City Centre, few galleries and the Science & Media Museum, great Indian restaurants (most Indian restaurants are actually Pakistani), and a number of cultural events throughout the year.

Maybe you should get out of your car and actually get to know the City, FactualFrank.

Yorkshire is a fine place. It's just ruined by Yorkshire people.

I'm talking about all those people who call it 'God's Own County'....people like Michael Parkinson, Geoffrey Boycott, Dickie Umpire, Clarkson...

Actually, around 80% of the "Indian" restaurants in Britain are Bangladeshi run.

You are absolutely correct. Sorry, got my countries mixed up.
