It's an utter waste of money at best.BleedingClaret wrote:I hardly think that that is designed to categorise people that wish to be as one, I think it's much more a political attempt not to upset certain ones.
Otherwise it's plain, simple racial profiling.
If you're going to do racial profiling you ought to have a bluddy good reason for it. I've not heard a single good reason why we do this. It encourages people to think of themselves other than British. It's not quite as bad as it used to be because it used to ask you to pick between answers like "British", "Indian" or "Pakistani". These days it's more likely to state "White British" "Indian British" or "Pakistani British" but these arbitrary categories based on the old British Empire (and not at all on ethnicity) show how stupid the idea is. It conflates skin colour, nationality and ethnicity and undermines social cohesion.
Only two other countries in the entire history of the world have collected racial profiling information on the level we currently do. For information, the other two (now defunct) states who also mass-collected this kind of data were-
Nazi Germany
Apartheid South Africa
Makes you think, no?
Something else to make you think - this would be unconstitutional in France.
Edit - but that's my final say on the matter because I want this thread to stay on topic without veering off.

The UK's spoonfed would greatly benefit from reading Mein Kempf for RESEARCH purposes only and 1984. That's if they can ditch their "can't happen here' attitude and turn the silly cartoons off.

Re: If you could phase something out?
I'll pick House of Lords - I'd like it gone by 2022 (if that is date of next election. Replace with "apolitical" Assembly of Knowledgeable Persons. Max 300 KPs. No more than 100 can be ex-MPs (or other political persons). Serve for maximum of two terms, no "lifers" - how can anyone be a KP when they are "on their last legs..."Mala591 wrote:If you had the power to phase something out of existence over the next 10 years then what would it be? Religion
The Royal Family
The House of Lords
Parking on pavements
Football agents
The City of London
Leylandi trees
Arms exports to muslim countries
Non football blogs on a football blog forum
The choice is yours...
Second pick, football agents - but only if I must have a second pick from your list.
I've not read the rest of this thread, yet. My second pick that isn't on your list will be "social media trolls." How can I put this....? The internet is a great thing, why spoil it?
Re: If you could phase something out?
Lot's of different suggestions/requests but I think religion is the biggest threat to human survival/world peace (even more than the thoughtless over consumption of material goods).
The more enlightened atheists/humanists MUST mobilise to 'counteract' the religious threat.
This needs to start with restriction (banning) of any new religious schools/places of worship.
It might sound a bit over dramatic but human evolution is being threatened by irrational and primitive forces that must be 'controlled' and peacefully phased out.

We all know it's wrong but the problem is we're being egged into giving a response. To truly stop the government racially profiling us we need to stop giving answer at all.Holmeclaret wrote:Agree with every word of this. Black, white, brown, coffee-coloured, yellow, pink, albino, etc etc - we all need to tick one box:
