The politics in the US are as crazy as their sports rules.Imploding Turtle wrote:While the president is the single most powerful person in the government, the Executive Branch is actually the weakest of the three branches of the U.S. government. He can't even fire his own VP, but that VP can throw him out with majority support from the cabinet.

Maybe of interest:

"Nothing coming out about Russia in the mainstream comes anywhere close to the election fraud, systemic legal and illegal bribery, organized crime and violence in our political system that independent researchers have been documenting for decades. If you aren't aware of this history, if you have a blind eye towards the corruption of one set of politicians because of ideological beliefs, of course reactions on the left won't make sense.
Why Russia, why now? The oil barons and their bankers are at war over the global energy market and its base currency. Russia is a threat to US dominance, and therefore profits. Trump represents some American interests whose investments wouldn't suffer so much if the BRIC states prevail (Exxon). This is intolerable to the establishment oligarchs, so their servant, the Deep State, is busy getting all of you worked up so they can sort out this economic conflict with more blood in the ME. In reality, no one who isn't an oligarch, or a hyping mad imperialist, has a direct stake in the conflict unless it goes terribly awry, or you live in a war zone, or your kid succumbs to the mind control and goes off to die in one of these rich man's wars. Meanwhile, nearly two decades later, nobody questions the absurdity of voting on electronic machines, which have been hacked to rig the vote since day one, by Americans. If your multi-billion dollar global enterprise is dependent upon the kneecapping might of the largest and most advanced military in history, are you going to let the proles threaten your foreign policy through some antiquated mechanism like voting? Of course not, yet practically everyone still expects some politician to save us.
The masses are pawns dutifully following their programmed media programming, over what to get upset about, and/or decrying the symbols of problems while blinded to actual problems. It is patently and absurdly ridiculous, to be so enthralled to and manipulated by power, but it's always been this way with humans, has it not?"

When i asked you to explain your opinion you instead chose to say "Do you know what ? when on CM I remember complaining that politics kept creeping onto the forum so I'm going to stick to footy from now on...UTC". I was under no illusion that you were at all capable of explaining your opinion because I was quite confident that it wasn't your opinion, you're just parrotting whatever bullshit talking points your sychophantic little collective of idiots use to keep you feeling good about the fact that your preferred US president is a Putin puppet.
I also fully expect that you'd be quite comfortable if Putin interfered in our elections or referenda as long as it was to the benefit of the side you've chosen to support, because people like you aren't loyal to your country, you're only loyal to your ideology. It's why no matter how obvious Trump makes his cover-up attempts, or how strong the evidence of him colluding/collaborating with the enemy, people like you will be OK with it because you agree with Trump.

Re: President Trump talking to journalists on Air Force One
Its too easy to put everything down to conspiracies and control; but there is an element of truth in it - as with most theories, its a bit of fact that balloons out of control. Four big American families (oil and gold) traditionally bailed out Countries (Britain included) and with that must come influence. Their money remains one of the major resources the world bank draws on. So of course they manipulate governments to their will to maximize their returns on investments.
Oil is heading towards its last hurrah, which means the barons have to find alternative streams for the future - hence land grabbing has become common again, and one of the biggest money generators of all War is everywhere.
Trump comes from stock familiar to these barons - it is a popular myth Trump is a successful self made business man - he is successful, but the multi billion inheritance he got from his father may of helped a little. This familiarity with the real power brokers may buy him a little time in the Whitehouse yet.
To pretend we live in a world where certain individuals can yank a chain and make governments jump to attention is naïve. To say we live in a world where those individuals have the final say on all matters is over simplification. However to say pressure is not asserted and everything is done for the public good is idealism in the extreme.

Re: President Trump talking to journalists on Air Force One
I stopped watching the late night shows weeks ago as it really is knock Trump at every opportunity. It might be valid but if a joke is told several times in succession it stops being funny.
What IT seems to miss in each of his Trump-based threads, is that Trump continues to enjoy approval ratings of over 80% in his base. So while the world might think him nuts, those who voted for him are really very solidly behind him, partly because of the witch hunt.

You only think i've missed it. If you had asked "why are so few Republicans coming out against Trump?" i'd have pointed to his approval ratings among Republican voters as a reason.NRC wrote:I stopped watching the late night shows weeks ago as it really is knock Trump at every opportunity. That doesn't change the fact that his overall job approval is in the toilet. America isn't only made up of Republicans and Democrats. Independents exist too and his approval rating among those is even worse than his overall rating. And while 80% (he's at 85% according to gallup) might seem high among Republicans, Obama was at 90% among Dems at the same stage. Trump is sitting at 35% and 8% among Independents and Democrats, at the same stage Obama was at 56% among Independents and 20% among Republicans. So even if you break it down by party affiliation Trump's still doing terribly.
But most damningly, Obama's lowest weekly approval rating in 8 years of his presidency was 40% (all stats are Gallup, btw) yet trump's already spent 14 out of 24 weeks either at 40% or lower. Including the last 6 weeks. And today is the final polling day of another week and after the week he's had his approval rating isn't going to be going up.
