If the police had waded in after the hooligans had started moving the tarpaulin and it had then escalated to the violence that occurred and perhaps worse someone had been seriously injured, who would have been blamed? The police of course. They can't win for some of you.

It is almost as if they wanted to protect the general public from the Hannover fans but once inside the stadium full of football fans they were prepared to play Russian roulette with the outcome...and lost.
It is quite clear to see and has been for quite some time now that the Lancashire constabularly and particularly the match commanders at Burnley have had a something of a chip on their shoulder regarding Burnley fans. The derby day bubble arrangements being a prime example.

It wouldn't have been a case of "wading" in. That of course would have been highly inflammatory. A higher police presence and a reinstatement of the tarpaulin would have been sufficient. Instead the stewards were left to deal with it and naturally under provocation they backed down. They had little choice and has been said before..the tone was set.Jimscho wrote:If the police had waded in after the hooligans had started moving the tarpaulin and it had then escalated to the violence that occurred and perhaps worse someone had been seriously injured, who would have been blamed? The police of course. They can't win for some of you.

Just seen 2 different videos, both show at least 3 missiles being returned back to the hannover fans.... Police don't need any extra videos of hannover fans, they want some results after a p1ss poor performance, they won't care which team they support, nor the offence.cutsy123 wrote:Not 1 german will be nicked following investigations

Re: ARTICLE: Police seeking help with request for video footage
All we needed was the red haired stewardess to just go in and tell the Germans to all sit down ....... That woulda sorted em all.
Been told that we're being watched and talked about for standing up during games ...... Maybe they should concentrate efforts on other things and make better use of the cameras which the club get a semi on, over it's ability to clearly zoom into every seat.
As a side note ...... I really hope it was the Stone Island tattoo lad that got nicked boarding the plane

Nope I'm saying that the police don't need any extra video evidence to show the hannover fans commuting offences, I believe they are purely wanting to lay the blame at other doors.Rileybobs wrote:Are you saying that Burnley fans throwing missiles should be immune from prosecution? 1 set of fans instigated the trouble
The police couldn't do their job... again
I'm not condoning the 3 missiles back, as 2 wrongs don't make a right, but it only escalated like it did because the police let the public down.

Ok - so even if you are correct (you're not btw) in that the police don't need any extra video evidence to show the Hannover fans committing offences - how exactly is it a bad thing that the police would like additional evidence to show the Burnley fans who broke the law?MACCA wrote:Nope I'm saying that the police don't need any extra video evidence to show the hannover fans commuting offences, I believe they are purely wanting to lay the blame at other doors.

In the heat of the moment people react.
Police have a baton to use as force if attacked.. If I had been punched or something thrown at me or my family, I may be inclined to retaliate rather than expect the limp wristed plod to protect me.
It's not right, but the fact still is. The hannover fans and police were the ones at blame for the trouble. No point closing the door after the horse has bolted.
The police will simply be covering their own mistakes and trying to spread the blame about. IMO

I really despair at the tripe being spouted here.
Macca is clearly well versed in Police tactics/resources/intel.
I'm still to see any evidence of the Police asking for evidence for prosecuting our fans? As CT alluded to, both clubs have agreed to work together to investigate which has led to the arrest of one boarding their plane home.

Re: ARTICLE: Police seeking help with request for video footage
So they kick off with the police then within the stand..but surely that than getting to the point they start trying to attack the Burnley fans and throwing seats that injure 4 year old children? The police get paid to deal with trouble like that and they ended up having to do it anyway. Just keep burying your head in the sand and defending the indefensible. They should have been confronted before they had chance to charge the home end. They had just trashed a family restaurant for gods sake and the police leave them alone in a stadium full of families?? Really??Jimscho wrote:So the police should have said "don't be naughty boys put that tarpaulin back".As soon as the police had moved towards the hooligans it would have kicked off. That is what they came for.

I'm sure they will be collecting evidence from social media including videos posted on this site. But where exactly is the harm in asking fans who are in attendance to send police videos of the incident? Surely you would prefer the police to have access to as much evidence as possible. Resources - plenty, couldn't/didn't do the job
Intel - admitted to having some, yet still didn't act correctly
Intel - many on here knew what may happen , police didn't act on what the supposedly knew.
Lets hope after contributing greatly to the mess, they can at least clean it up a bit and get some justice/results.

Re: ARTICLE: Police seeking help with request for video footage
Perhaps he did. I have almost zero knowledge on police tactics and crowd control. I'm not trying to dress anything up. I don't see how the police's alleged incompetence would make people question their request for video evidence which could lead to the prosecution of violent thugs. I also don't care which team they follow because I have absolutely no more association with a Burnley supporting hooligan than a Hannover supporting hooligan.tim_noone wrote:The officer in charged failed in his duty. 99.9 of away game I attend, the police look after the away fans ( Are in the same stand, the away fans side of seggrigation )
Turf Moor always used to be the opposite way round. Any reaction from.a home supporter = arrest made.
Someone should put a link up of the YouTube video, to show how police treat Burnley fans who did nothing compared to the Germans Saturday ( who by the way assaulted officers and threw chairs endangering life )
