Re: Trump ready to press the nuclear button
This is all madness. Each side is talking itself up into a conflict that will, even at best estimate cost hundreds of thousands of lives in NK, SK and Japan.
And in reality if it breaks into war the only winner would be USA, so would China stand by and allow Trump to be parked next door to them? They are already under pressure with all of the heavyweight US armaments aimed at them in and around the Pacific.

Trump and Kim reminds me of 2 kids who dislike each other squabbling in the schoolyard, lots of name calling trying to make the other swing first that way they don't end up the bad guy because 'he started it'.

Re: Trump ready to press the nuclear button
People keep asking why the USA doesn't just invade North Korea. Can I suggest some light reading on something called the Korean War.
Fact is North Korea not only won the Korean War, but that was while China wasn't able to do more than rattle a few sabres. It needs China on board to stop it escalating to a REALLY major conflict - and there is little sign China is about to give the go ahead with North Korea their only buffer from the US.

A Message for Peace. Towards a Peace Agreement and the Withdrawal of US Troops from Korea."
Worth watching:"..The US has used the Armistice agreement to justify the presence of 37,000 American troops on Korean soil under a bogus United Nations mandate, as well as establish an environment of continuous and ongoing military threats. This situation of “latent warfare” has lasted for the last 60 years. It is important to emphasize that this US garrison in South Korea is the only U.S. military presence based permanently on the Asian continent.
Our objective in this venue is to call for a far-reaching peace treaty, which will not only render the armistice agreement signed on July 27, 1953 null and void, but will also lay the foundations for the speedy withdrawal of US troops from Korea as well as lay the foundations for the reunification of the Korean nation.....
..This commemoration is particularly significant in view of mounting US threats directed not only against Korea, but also against China and Russia as part of Washington’s “Asia Pivot”, not to mention the illegal occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, the US-NATO wars against Libya and Syria, the military threats directed against Iran, the longstanding struggle of the Palestinian people against Israel, the US sponsored wars and insurrections in sub-Saharan Africa.
..It is now believed that the population north of the imposed 38th Parallel lost nearly a third its population of 8 – 9 million people during the 37-month long “hot” war, 1950 – 1953, perhaps an unprecedented percentage of mortality suffered by one nation due to the belligerence of another...."

blue...The real threat to Global Security is the United States and its allies!"There is a great deal of propaganda and deliberate misinformation about North Korea, which the public should know.
While neocons, a cheering corporate media, and Deep State, rush to war with North Korea, information is the ultimate weapon.
For example, did you know that North Korea, China, and India, are the only three nations who have committed to a “no nuclear first” policy? They have pledged never to use nuclear weapons “first”, but of course reserve the right to use them if attacked.
How many times has the US threatened to use nuclear weapons against North Korea?
Do you know that North Korea has repeatedly asked the US to engage in bilateral talks, to cool off the ever-escalating tension? The offer was flatly rejected by both Obama and Trump.....
..North Korea has not invaded or attacked any nation since the end of the Korean War, while the US has bombed over 30 countries..."

It is IF you believe one mans view.
I don't doubt millions died in 53, but millions have died since in a regime that makes Saddam hussein look like Mother Therese. If you see footage smuggled out of North Korea, rather than the propaganda they permit, you'd see that there are places far worse than third world countries.

USA wouldn't need to farm it, just have an amenable NK government whip its citizens to farm it on the cheap and sell it to the USA on the cheap.ClaretMoffitt wrote:>Implying China in 100000000 years would ever let the USA resource farm NK.

Your post is disgustingly reductive of the plight of Guantanamo prisoners, which is ironic since that's what you're complaining about but about another camp.Venkys4eva wrote:Are you joking? 2000 a year killed, brutal torture, rape, families imprisoned for 3 generations etc V a bit of water boarding before release - yes exactly the same

Trailer: The Coming War on China
The world has been primed to regard China as a new 'enemy'. The US has surrounded China with 400 military bases..."The Coming War on China is John Pilger's 60th film for ITV. Pilger reveals what the news doesn't - that the world's greatest military power, the United States, and the world's second economic power, China, both nuclear-armed, are on the road to war. Pilger's film is a warning and an inspiring story of resistance."

Replies..
1...US owes China well over a TRILLION dollars due to trade imbalance
Maybe US is looking for a way not to pay ?
2...Bloody China, putting all their borders right next to our military bases!
3...strange how #Duterte is attacked a week after he suggests dealing with #China rather than #USA
4...The way China is demonised in the most recent American sci-fi, The Arrival. The framing is total.
5...Russia+China signed 30-yr, £237bn deal re Russian gas to China. Plus 30 more deals. Scant media
etc

Yawn.....what can you do about it ? Trump is only likely to take direct action (non-nuclear) if Billy big b******s fires first at Guam or Japan which he won't. Just whitewash your windows, get some tinned food in, fill the bath with water and hope we get some players in before the window closes.

Re: Trump ready to press the nuclear button
And NK are only likely to fire at Guam or Japan if they think they're about to lose their first strike capability because some orange moron with a military gives them reason to think they're about to lose their first strike capability.LaLigaClaret wrote:Yawn.....what can you do about it ? This is why for decades US presidents have not responded so publicly to NK's bloviations, but unfortunately the oranged groper is incapable of that.

Re: Trump ready to press the nuclear button
The previous admin in Washington under Obama, totally "got it".
ie
This inadequate f**kwit in Pyongyang is only just moving (mentally) into puberty.
So Obama, quite sensibly, decided to totally ignore any rantings from him.
Unfortunately, Trump, being thick as f**k, decided to add it to his electoral kudos.
The ending from this could be terrible. Let's hope not.

NK are playing Trump, because he's a hothead.
The Atlantic Monthly went through a number of scenarios of what the US could do about it, and effectively came to the conclusion that doing nothing was the best bet. Unfortunately 'doing nothing' is akin to weakness in trumpology.
