A couple of years ago I was working with a Luton fan who was at that game. He remembered the disallowed goal and who scored it. Luton’s goal was scored by Ricky Hill if I remember rightly. How far fortunes have changed, as back then Luton were a First Division side and we were in our 4th season in the bottom division.RocketLawnChair wrote:I remember Oghani scoring a sensational disallowed goal after dancing around the entire Luton Town defence (old div 1 side back then) in a cup tie at Turf Moor then and sliding the ball home for what we all thought was an astonishing equaliser.. But the ref pulled the game back for a foul on halfway. It was clear though that Oghani and the Luton goalkeeper and defenders trying to stop him hadn't heard the whistle. I seem to remember a lot of the Longside not even realising it had been disallowed for quite a while amidst the euphoria.

Were Luton also the cup holders that year or was it the season they went on to win it?
Just checked; they were the holders and also went on to reach the final again.
Amazing to think that drawing Luton was a pretty big deal. And giving them a good game over two legs was a considerable achievement.

I still can't celebrate a goal to this day without checking the ref has given it because of that. Luton were League cup holders at the time.RocketLawnChair wrote:I remember Oghani scoring a sensational disallowed goal after dancing around the entire Luton Town defence (old div 1 side back then) in a cup tie at Turf Moor then and sliding the ball home for what we all thought was an astonishing equaliser.. After a game v Millwall,I think. They had quite an eccentric chairman who seemed to revel in the publicity he was creating.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Were Luton the club who had a ban on away fans?
