I find them as mildly irritating when they do call, which is not often. But I am often surprised by how many people I know quite well who actually turn out to be 'witnesses'. I would find it hard to say I hate them and always remember that people of this religion were murdered, along with Jews, by the Nazi's. A little toleration for other people's religions is a price we pay for freedom.

Some good jokes but this is a serious topic. I have personal experience of the JWs and in my opinion it is brainwashing pure and simple, and the effects it has on children amounts to nothing less than serious child abuse. They are an absolute disgrace.

Is there any religion that couldn't be accused of being a brain washing cult? I don't believe so, ancient books, beliefs and rituals that have no relevance in the modern world, the cause of most wars and unrest and hatred against your fellow people. Would love to see a parallel world without religion, surely be better than what we've got now

Don't see any issue with the thread either. You can equally make a case for those hawkers who drop off Betterware magazines (other companies are equally to blame), we've had hawkers from the Red Cross and Virgin knocking recently as well. It's not just JW's who are annoying, but like the others are interrupting your day to sell something, be it their religion or their products. They are right up there with people who call you to sell you PPI or Workplace Accident Insurance, when you have never had a workplace accident or have anything to do with PPI. They're all annoying! Nobody should be knocking on your door without good reason or cause. I don't think promoting religion or selling your wares is good reason.

Yes I do hate the JW, no matter what anyone wants to say or think about that. A lot of people reading this, who don't agree, will have said that comment at sometime in their life, i.e., " I hate the thought of it".
My reasoning for using the word is based on the fact, their religion bars someone from having the right to receive a blood transfusion to save a life, which in the case of a child, can't be right, as they can't make the decision for themselves.
If one of my family turned to the religion and left one of my grandchildren to die, rather than receive a blood transplant, I would hate them as well.
As said in a previous post, they're always knocking at doors around Xmas. I've seem them about 10am, on Boxing Day, then going back to the same houses on New Years morning. They appear in the same area about 3 times a year. To me that is trying to brainwash people into their religious thoughts.

Just a bit of perspective here. For a start JW's do not celebrate Christmas , it is just a normal day to them and of no religious significance whatsoever.
JW's also suffered terribly at the hands of the Nazi regime in Germany ( as posted previously on here.) The reason being that they are conscientious objectors and will not take up arms. They also believe in a higher authority than the nation state which brought them at odds with Nazism and were therefore , along with many others, mercilessly prosecuted to the point of concentration camps and execution.
Incidentally many countries have tried to expel all religions from their nations and have never succeeded without resorting to mass executions and eventually failing.
Any poster really wanting to live in an atheistic world can always try North Korea and be safe in the knowledge that all those of a religious persuasion are interred in prison camps so you would be quite safe from them.

Here's the thing about the Bible. It was written long before modern science explained a lot of things in the universe, like springs coming out of the side of a mountain, and forming a river that people depended on for their existence, like the River Jordan, or the mighty Brun. Also, all of the major religious books, like the Koran, and the philosophy of Confucius were written when mankind was emerging from the primeval ooze, just like Woevers fans. But, can you really explain certain things like teeth, or sexual attraction simply through science? I have serious doubts.

Get a dashcam! This is what I say when those Jehovah's Witnesses comeaknocking on my door. I mean, they're pretty redundant now, aren't they. Here's some advice though - get a decent micro SD Card. Maybe SanDisk, eh? Buy cheap, pay twice - this is what I tell those JWs. I bet I save them loads of money in the long run. In fact, they should be knocking at my door in order thank me for such sage advice, but no, they just stand there and proselytise. Oh well, it's their lose.
