There wasn't a piece of clothing I had on that day that wasn't wet through, and that includes my underwear!
We did the same thing, could have wrung my own skin out by the time we got to Victoria Station.

It was same for us waiting for the tram got drenched then train cancelled.

We drove but were drenched just getting to tram stop and then, once off tram, back to car. Horrendous.
