Re: The big screen
When last discussed with the club they hadn't decided where the screen would go but are obliged to have one which is why the temporary one was in place on Saturday with the old one having been removed. They won't be putting the old one back up from what I'm told, it's old technology now at over ten years old.CardyTheClaret wrote:It’s is being replaced with 2 new ones, one on top of each new corner.

Re: The big screen
The old one has gone, we wont see that one again. They are looking at new locations, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The new system will show a crystal clear image and will be fully compatible with the new software the club had installed midway through last seasonClaretTony wrote:When last discussed with the club they hadn't decided where the screen would go but are obliged to have one which is why the temporary one was in place on Saturday with the old one having been removed. A new HD feed from the gantry was only installed this season, thats why the screen has only been showing replays again until recently because the original feed had to converted from SD, then upscaled to HD to work with the replacement system and then scaled back to SD - thats why the live feed and replays looked like a dodgy stream for a while.

Poor SD, you can't blame him for this.

Optimum would surely be to park it above the Bob Lord. Can't see the BL types being fussed if they can see it or not

The new screen will be great as long as they don't persist with annoyingly irrelevant adverts that probably pay for 1 day of Dyche's wages. Keep the screen about footie, we've already paid to watch it.

There's a few English around because the dry air and mountains are good for retirees with rheumatism type issues, but they're mostly soppy Southerners

Should have individual screens on the back of the seat in front these days like on a plane...

Any updates on this?
Saw this on Twitter a few days ago. Why were the plans scaled back, money?

I read it as he was asking why the original plans when we redeveloped the two stands in the 90’s were scaled back, not the current plans

Those plans are from around 1994 prior to the building of the current Longside and Jimmy Mac stands. They didn't happen, we got the cheap stands instead from Linpave.

Re: New corner stands for disabled fans - any updates?
Update on the disabled areas:
You will have seen the work is underway in terms of the big screen having been removed. I think we will be continuing with the temporary screen for now but with the work complete there will be two brand new screens. One is likely to be placed in the same corner above the new disabled area but don't know where the second one will be going.
The ticket office has also been relocated temporarily to allow work to go ahead in that corner of the ground.
I'm not sure when you'll actually see anything happening in terms of the new structures but work is on schedule.

Wonder where the options are for the other screen? Panelling at side of Longside?ClaretTony wrote:Update on the disabled areas:

Above the Bob Lord would be ideal, but it would take some structural work. Maybe alternatively on a high mount between the CFS and Bob Lord?

Would make sense. You’d think of having 2 screens they would be situated opposite each other.ZizkovClaret wrote:Above the Bob Lord would be ideal, but it would take some structural work. Maybe alternatively on a high mount between the CFS and Bob Lord?
Seems pointless having them both on the same side

That I don’t know. Logically in the Bob Lord/Cricket Field corner but I’m not sure whether it would fit there.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Wonder where the options are for the other screen? Panelling at side of Longside?

I was just thinking, technology moves on so they’ll probably have more options than previously.ClaretTony wrote:That I don’t know. Logically in the Bob Lord/Cricket Field corner but I’m not sure whether it would fit there.
Are there areas of the ground who can’t see the current one/replacement one?

Re: New corner stands for disabled fans - any updates?
The further back you go in the Longside or Jimmy Mac upper you go the less likely you are able to see it. I’m on row G and can see it if I look to my left but I’m not sure many more rows will be able to.Bordeauxclaret wrote:I was just thinking, technology moves on so they’ll probably have more options than previously.

Wow I remember that picture.
A few observations,
the stands line-up
Flood lights in each corner
Outside non roofed veranda on each stand
What were the curved buildings around the car park
A royal entrance to the North stand
It could have been called "New Turf Moor"

Re: New corner stands for disabled fans - any updates?
The 2 blocks nearest the screen in JM upper and lower cannot see it so we need one facing the stand so in between BL and Cf should solve the problem.

I think that’s pretty much spot on but I suspect the club make money on them with the advertising. We are obliged to have one which is why the temporary one was in place last match.Quickenthetempo wrote:The screens only good for wishing little Jessica a happy 3rd birthday 108 times a match.

Re: New corner stands for disabled fans - any updates?
That's not going to happen thankfully - I sit close to the half way line and it's not likely to go there. The worst grounds I've experienced with them are Crystal Palace (that was when we used to sit at the other end of the Arthur Wait Stand) and the London Stadium where they are ridiculously placed right behind the goals.RammyClaret61 wrote:ClaretTony will be very impressed if one goes on the Bob Lord roof right in front of his eyes!! I've never had a problem with the positioning of ours because I have had to make an effort to see it. I did sit in the Bob Lord for a couple of League Cup games a few years ago when our stand was closed and it constantly annoyed me. I know some people like them, but I've never seen the point to be honest although I understand they are a money making exercise for clubs with the advertising.

A good mate of mine sponsored the game recently through his company and remarked to me afterwards that some little girls birthday popped up on the screen far more than his company name.

Back on topic. I can see it being very touch and go whether the corner stands are ready for the new season and it must be odds on that our first match will be away, to allow a little more time.

The worst experience I had was at Bolton a few years ago. The electronic advertising hoardings round the side of the pitch seemed to produce a blinding white light that made it actually difficult to see the pitch properly. It was really bad. It was the midweek game that we won 1-0 - Eagles was still playing for the "ten years ahead" lot.ClaretTony wrote:That's not going to happen thankfully - I sit close to the half way line and it's not likely to go there.
