This is absolutely disgusting. Another blatant dive from Spurs. They need docking points for this.

If Burnley FC didn't exist, I'd probably give up football. I'm sick of the blatant cheating and efforts to deceive referees and officials. Players who do so aren't men in my eyes. They lack integrity, sportsmanship and all the qualities that make up professionals. Some shocking behaviour from Tottenham and I hope they face action. Unfortunately, the sport is way behind where it should be in terms of sorting out the issues that actually matter.

Great game other than having to listen to Jim Beglin.
Spurs really are a rancid lot. 1st pen dive and offside, 2nd was just a joke. Utterly terrible from the lino desperate to get involved

So if it was a definite penalty why did Moss say no penalty - Lino couldn't be sure about the first but still went along with Moss then was absolutely sure from side on view that 2nd one was ? He couldn't see it absolutely sure from the side view !!!

For me, the problem is that current rules and systems are set up to reward acting, diving, feigning injury which means, effectively, it's set up to favour bigger clubs.Diesel wrote:Wrong penalty decision - missed

Ali should be punished retrospectively, whether given a yellow or not.
The offside for the penalty should be offside whether the defender touches it or not. Surely, the attacker has gained an advantage by being in an offside position. A defender cannot rely on liners to make the correct call.
The game is imploding because the money people have got involved and created a situation where money will win.

A dive in the area should be a straight red and 3 game ban. The only way to stop it.

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
Great entertainment that would have been killed by VAR in my view. It might help get the right decision (although i'm not even convinced about that) but all the stopping and starting would have completely altered the flow at the end of that game.ClaretTony wrote:What an astonishing finish to the game - brilliant entertainment

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
Who on earth was Ali passing to when Kane WAS in an offside position ? It was Kane therefore the Lino should be putting up his flag - he wasn't sure that a Liverpool player had touched it - surely he should have signalled offside and had the ref over-rule it not the other way round? Too many times the lino hasn't followed the correct procedure when Burnley have had goal/penalty decisions ?
Re: Liverpool v Spurs
Thought the liner that gave the pens was superb.

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
Gallagher saying Kane was onside as Lovern went to play the ball, but he’s only going to play the ball because Kane is behind him surely and was offside before?

When the last Tottenham player touched the ball (the pass) Kane was offside, surely that's it?

Re: Liverpool v Spurs
I'm clearly with the minority here, but for me Kane is onside for the first. He's offside when the ball is played, but Lovren deliberately plays the ball. Regardless of whether Kane is tight to him or thirty yards offside, that play from Lovren was a choice. The fact that he touched it renders Kane active, in an onside position in a new phase of play. If Lovren knew Kane was offside, he should've just let the ball run.
FA Rule 11...
"A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball (except from a deliberate save by any opponent) is not considered to have gained an advantage."

Absolutely spot on Kane being behind lovren affects what he does, if he wasn't there he would just let the ball run through to the goalkeeper.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Gallagher saying Kane was onside as Lovern went to play the ball, but he’s only going to play the ball because Kane is behind him surely and was offside before?
Modern football is killing the art of defending, how on earth are you supposed to teach young players these rules. They are baffling.
Re: Liverpool v Spurs
How do you know what Lovren 'knew'.
Offside, for me.

It would take a brave defender to leave the ball in that situation because he “thought” he was offside.
