Lots of jealous braindead swine attack the people of success consistently in their sad failing lives.

The world has millions of mindless moronic sheep but is lucky to be blessed with one every era with Ronaldos sublime talent.

Two things you need to know about ronaldo

1. He’s the best in the world

2. Factual frank/ muchacho is quicker than him

Putting it simply for you, messi tends to be more spectacular more often. If that isn't in a not shell for you, I give up.

in terms of spectacle i have ronaldo streets ahead of messi.

it's technique where i can't separate them.

but football is entertainment and ronaldo is surely a better entertainer because he has more flair.

Let me give you an example.. Messi is capable of emulating maradonas effort against england in 86, Ronaldo isn't.. They are different types of player.

they are different and i agree in terms of style messi is more like maradona but i still have ronaldo ahead.

alex ferguson once said ronaldo could play in the english second tier - he can mix it up.

messi is more delicate.

i would have messi as my 3rd best ever with pele at 4 and billy hamilton at 5.

Messi has had in much easier IMO, playing with the likes of Iniesta and Xavi in the Barca era where nobody could get the ball off them, set up for a player like Messi. Ronaldo struggled for consistency in England at the start of his career, he put the work in and left Man United as probably the best player in the world. I just think the Barca high press 80% of possession style makes it incredibly easy for Messi to perform. I'd like to see Messi away from that, it's all too comfortable and he won't leave because of that.

Ronaldo has taken over messi in the last 3-4 years.

Messi has stopped performing at the highest level (champions league and internationals).

In 2014 messi and ronaldo had scored the same amount of the champions league goals. Since then messi has scored 10 and ronaldo around 50.

Ronaldo is a freak that performs consistently at the highest level. I don’t think we will ever see a player achieve what he is currently achieving.

I remember ronaldo in his early days at utd interviewed saying he just wanted to be the best in the world. At the time he was a show pony, stepovers all the time but producing little. Skinner and baddiel mercilessly took the ****.

He's come a long way since then!

Strangely, despite the hat-trick, I didn't think he played particularly well, In fact he went missing for a while in the second half.
However he is a fantastic talent with the ability to affect results, undoubtedly one of the top ten at the world cup.
Also, he must look after himself to the very highest level.

2 set pieces and a shot straight at the keeper. I agree, some perspective needed.

The guy is an utter phenomenon. He swaggers about because he’s got summat to swagger about for. He also seems a good guy off the pitch too. His charitable works belie his arrogance and show a humility that is truly commendable.

A thing that struck me about ronaldo is his selfishness as a player. Remember he missed for utd in the champs league final shoot out? He led down head in hands, and even when they won anyway, didn't seem to celebrate much. Its this selfishness that drives him.

At club level Messi has a career total of 563 goals in 669 games
Ronaldo has a total of 573 goals in 763 games

At international level
Messi has 64 goals in 125 games
Ronaldo has 84 goals in 151 matches

Very similar stats

goals are only one aspect as pertaining to value.

assists and defending are more difficult to quantify.

You can only hope that he gets injured just at the time (1000 times a game) when he's looking up at the big screens to see if he's in the shot.

We’d be very very lucky to have both Messi and Ronaldo in our life time. Never mind both at the same time.

Ronaldo is the perfect role model. Work hard and you can achieve anything. So too Messi. He may be more naturally talented but still has what it takes to do it time and time again.

I saw a program about Ronaldo recently. He was waiting in the reception of an hotel waiting to go to the ballon dor. Messi walked in. Ronaldo asked his boy who’s in the suit and he couldn’t speak. His dads Ronaldo but yet was in absolute awe of Messi. He was a great moment when Messi walked over and greeted them both.

I prefer Ronaldo to Messi, I think Messi has the better close control, technique and dribbling ability but I'd rather watch Ronaldo any day. Pace, power, aerial threat and the ability to score spectacular goals out of nowhere like last night and the one against Juventus in the CL. A lot of Messi's goals I've seen are largely him beating a couple of defenders, and chipping the keeper, which whilst outstanding in it's own right doesn't thrill me like some of Ronaldo's efforts. Both one and two for best ever though IMO.

If you watch the games they do end up being the Ronaldo show he can't help being the outstanding player on the pitch.

Doesn't matter if he's arrogant though because he's one of the best players ever. In fact his self belief has probably made him he player he is - Friday was the perfect example of that.

Agree with pretty much all of this, except the last sentence as Maradonna was right up there and I never saw enough of Pele or Best to properly judge. One key difference for me between Messi and Ronaldo/Maradonna is that the the latter two players both have/had the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and lift an average team to success. Messi is individually brilliant, particularly with the ball at his feet in tight spaces, and can often be a match winner, but just not sure he has that same leadership ability.

I bet he's given more to charity than you, are you also a single dad? So what he doesn't like losing on a football pitch, hardly makes the guy arrogant.

Indeed, I was born in 1990 so I have very limited appreciation of Maradona beyond a few clips I've seen, looked some player though.
