They just look so fresh and happy to be there, unlike the look of fear in the eyes of previous teams. It is only Panama, but even so confidence accounts for so much in football, and at the moment we look like we can get better and better. And I never thought I would be saying that.
If it's the same after an hour I'd try a few changes, just to keep the options fit, especially Danny Rose, because Ash Young just looks weak as a left back.

That is a clear and obvious error and when VAR should be used. If you jump for the ball your hand is never clenched. Clenching is a deliberate action to hurt your opponent

Struggling at cricket though.
Another just gone. (Morgan).
27/4 now, chasing 206.
Glad I went to Trent Bridge now and, not today!

I agree dp, it was deliberate for the reasons you say and was not seen as such by the referee at the time and was not reviewed but probably should have been.

Defense looks a bit shaky. Won't get away with it against a better team. Tarks and Mee would sort it all out

To say we've played the red lion and dog and duck , we've let a few golden chances come against us with sloppy play.

If it's a draw in the final game i think it'll be decided by the fair play system. If this finishes 6-1

Pickford clowning about and then Weetabix diving. Not that he would have got to it even with a proper dive.

Us and Belgium now on identical goal difference and goals scored.
Who wins the group if we draw against them?

Once we scored the 6th goal (excellent really that we managed to score so many, so soon), I was just hoping for a clean sheet. It was more hope than expectation because I don't have a great deal of confidence in our defence. We look like we have mistakes in us (we are a young team to be fair) and we'll have some trouble against a half-decent attacking side. We'll therefore need to keep doing what we're doing in attack - think we've been very positive and patient in the first two games. Obviously a tougher test versus Belgium but we can go into the game with some confidence.

My main concern is a weak defence, a better team would have made us pay today. I’m not looking forward to Thursday if they can’t sort it out by then.

It looked like we were happy to keep the score to 6-1 and that makes sense to me, as finishing second currently looks like it might be the best way to avoid Germany and Brazil until the final.

Plenty of sides look suspect at the back, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, France, Spain off the top of my head have all been carved open by minnows.
We would have been 2-0 down inside 5 minutes today v Belgium, that's for sure.

First half was superb, and the 2nd (understandably) wasn't anything special
But you have to set down a marker at the world cup, and that was a pretty good way to do it.

I was saying the same thing in the Tunisia game. Our defence looks like it could always give a goal away. And it's not just the defending either, they look slow at turning and often find it difficult to pass to somebody 10 yards away from them. Thursday could be a goal fest, as Belgium's defence aint great either.
I think we'll be relying quite a lot on set-pieces for our goals, too. So the difference between a good ref (like today) and a poor one, could be significant. If we get poor referees, then we won't be getting penalties when Harry Kane is MMA'd to the ground.
