50s before my time but still huge crowds in the 60s. First Burnley pro I can remember was Lance Gibbs in 1961. You had to get on early to get a seat.

And 50's before my time also, but I do remember some of the big names of the 60's.

Such a different world now for club cricket and I’m sure much harder work for those involved with the clubs.

Indeed, and the ones who are prospering are the ones lucky enough to have an army of volunteers willing and able to do all the donkey work behind the scenes.

I think it all comes down to who’s running the club, generally those that have old fashioned, stuck up, clicky commitees are never going to get anyone volunteering.

I seem to recall it being almost the opposite at Lowerhouse. Especially as the 60s moved towards the 70s it was sometimes a question of 'When can you get here? We will start then.' (and they would still have time to be bowled out and have their score surpassed before 6.30 :oops:
