What's drivel about it, sometimes after we lose its like people are rubbing their hands with glee, it's got to the point where I have to give the board a miss for several days just to avoid the usual suspects.fidelcastro wrote:Drivel.

It's drivel because no one... and I mean literally no one is wanting to see us back in League two, reminiscing about when we were last really sh1te, and although you do wonder with certain posters on here at times, I still don't believe anyone wants us to lose a game. If they do, then they should sod off!Shore claret wrote:What's drivel about it, sometimes after we lose its like people are rubbing their hands with glee, it's got to the point where I have to give the board a miss for several days just to avoid the usual suspects.

Re: What do Burnley fans actually want?
It seems to have become an established “fact” that Europa Cup football affects league form, but is there any statistical basis for this? Has anyone actually made a comparison of each club’s league record when they are in Europe? Isn’t it just the case that when a club like ours has an exceptional season like we’ve just had, it’s unlikely to be repeated the following year because it is just that - exceptional - and not because of the “distraction” of all those extra games?MACCA wrote:In order of preference, i want to see

Great football/performances
Goals
At the minute none of the above look like they'll come with any sort of regularity.
If being in Europe is contributing to that ( partly because of our thread bare squad ) then I want out.
Bigger and better squads than ours have found it difficult to juggle both competitions, with their regular league finished being effected.
The premier league us our bread and butter and we need to stay in it at all costs, a couple of extra thrashing in Europe playing half a team won't do anything for our players or their confidence.
We've had a little tour of Europe now, let's concentrate on becoming an established premier league outfit.
I don’t recall any team being relegated in a season in which they played in Europe. Thinking of clubs of a similar stature to ours in recent years, Middlesbrough and Swansea are the two that spring immediately to mind. Boro reached the final in 2006, and although there were fewer games back then, they also got to the semi final of the cup and the quarter final of the league cup, yet still finished 14th in the league.
Swansea is obviously the more direct comparison. They reached the last 32 and finished 12th in the league a few years ago. To answer the OP, I’d take that all day long.

This Burnley fan would like...... to have a midfielder on the bench or a winger seeing as it is only the third game of the season (discounting Europe). Shows up the fans who slate us fans who state the obvious regards the transfer window being a shambles

No they finished 12th as well. Since writing that I’ve since discovered that Hull went down in a season they played in Europe, but as they lost the only qualifier they played, I don’t think they can blame their relegation on it.Cleveleys_claret wrote:

To see a plan B when plan A clearly isn’t working.

What we've had in the past couple of years has been unprecedented in most of our lifetimes.
With the changing face of football so that all clubs have billionaire owners willing to bankroll sides to finish 17th.
I don't want to sound pessimistic, but you should be enjoying where we are and what we are doing, because it can't last.
