You have any faith in our board backing SD with money. I think we will see come January how much Garlick values money over everything elsebfcjg wrote:We can only get better. Let's judge when Detour and Brady are back. Also the January window will show how we want to progress.

Aside from that first summer when we sold Austin to balance the books he's been backed in every window since he's been here pretty much.Cleveleys_claret wrote:You have any faith in our board backing SD with money. I think we will see come January how much Garlick values money over everything else
Feel free to disprove that one, good luck.

He can’t disprove it but he’ll moan about the lack of foreign signings!GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Aside from that first summer when we sold Austin to balance the books he's been backed in every window since he's been here pretty much.

If you believe that you really are blinkered. SD has even come out and said he wasnt happy with the transfer window. Not arguing about that because our business is shocking. Yes we have a good side and good players and they mostly were brought in on SDs watch but we are always just one player short in a position whether that be CH or CM or a winger. We are always happy to take needless risks with the size of the playing squadGodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Aside from that first summer when we sold Austin to balance the books he's been backed in every window since he's been here pretty much.

If we play like that against Huddersfield on Saturday we will lose.

Hopefully we will be better than today but to be honest, we probably won't lose and that will come down to our experience in terms of how to get something out of these games - add to that Huddersfield would seem to be pretty much on a level with Cardiff.
I'd agree with the general point that a performance like today's won't get us many points against most other teams in this division but, depending on who it is, we will play differently.
The same 11 who started today started against Bournemouth, a form team near the high end of the league and we beat them 4-0. The scoreline probably flattered us but we were well worth the win, our biggest in the top division since 1970.
Those same players don't all suffer from collective swings of form/consistency over the space of a week, not at this level. Whilst they might not put it into practice entirely how the manager intended they are playing to instructions. The objective is always the result, if it looks good and we score a few goals bonus but against the weaker teams win 'ugly' and the job is done as required.

Has Taylor run over your cat or something like that? He was no worse than most today. Question is 'Is Ward finished?'Hibsclaret wrote:He has no faith in the left back who does not know whether to stick or twist.

Defour and Brady will make a huge difference to our performance levels.
The question is - even if fit, will Dyche put them back in?

There's a difference between not being happy with a transfer window and saying you're not backed by the board.Cleveleys_claret wrote:If you believe that you really are blinkered. You, and others, have decided they're the same thing, for your own agendas.

Re: A lot more to come from this Burnley side
Whether or not Ward is finished is irrelevant to whether Taylor is good enough. At no point last season did we defend like we have this season and only when Ward was out was when we couldn’t win.Stayingup wrote:Has Taylor run over your cat or something like that? Taylor did well today with one throw in but in terms of his defensive ability every team will now target our left hand side
Re: A lot more to come from this Burnley side
We have been lucky in the past two games for different reasons.Against Bournemouth we played reasonably well but they over complicated things and in the end made it difficult for themselves with us taking advantage. Yesterday was awful to watch particularly first half but in the end it was a good smash and grab away win. So yes I think there is more to come from us and we should be ‘points’ happy ‘ rather than ‘performance happy’ at this very early stage of the season. A couple of good signings in January will help! Re: A lot more to come from this Burnley side
I think.teams may well target our left side particularly with Mee playing so poorly and being shoved around - rarely won a header yesterday. But funnily enough Cardiff didn't particularly target it.Hibsclaret wrote:Whether or not Ward is finished is irrelevant to whether Taylor is good enough. Both full backs are poor to be honest and if Tarks misses a couple of games we have problems. Mee is not dominant enough and looks out of sorts.
We have a full week on the training ground this week. Ben Mee along with Lowton and Taylor need serious attention. Come to think of it so do Cork and Westwood who were dreadful yesterday

But he's not entirely wrong is he?Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Can you not spin another record?
We have on plenty of occasions reverted to the type of football we played at Cardiff, which I will describe as dour and uninspiring, yet workmanlike.
Other times we've not been at all bad to watch.
The thing is that you can't call the good stuff "the Burnley way" and totally ignore the poor football which we often serve up.
