An excellent argument for exploiting the renewable energy sources we have.

Okay, well you're clearly being unreasonable because, as far as I can tell, there's nothing hypocritical in what I've posted, and there's nothing objectively unreasonable in inferring a person saying:Damo wrote:I didnt.
I just called people like you hypocritical
...and who, I assume, believes those who trust the data on climate change and, specifically, the scientific consensus on anthropogenic climate change, should be "laughed at at every oppertunity" (sic), would, by inferred opposition, be a climate change denier.Damo wrote:but all of the people...who also bleat about global warming, should be laughed at at every oppertunity. Some of this has spilled out from the Brexit debate I can tell with remainers backing remainers up vica versa, you've had a go at me & now Damo. Maybe some people are in a argumentative mood tonight & maybe the grolsch ect kicking in, I'm not night.Spiral wrote:Okay, well you're clearly being unreasonable because, as far as I can tell, there's nothing hypocritical in what I've posted, and there's nothing objectively unreasonable in inferring a person saying:

The scientific consensus on anthropogenic climate change was arrived at way after Thatcher closed the coal mines. (Around the turn of the millennium, in fact.) The only way those two arguments ('keep the mines open' and 'move towards renewables') could ever be considered hypocritical would be on the assumptions that Thatcher's decisions were environmentally or ecologically informed, not economically or politically.taio wrote:It seems you have completely missed his point

You're coming at this from a completely adversarial point of view and you shouldn't, mate. There's no need to circle the wagons because I assure you, nobody is ganging up on you or taking a shot on the grounds of your opinions on Brexit. I'm sorry if I've come across as abrasive. Folk who are big enough to accept that they might have been wrong on a thing engender far more respect that those who double down on their terrible grasp of facts or logic or whatever.Jakubclaret wrote:Some of this has spilled out from the Brexit debate I can tell with remainers backing remainers up vica versa, you've had a go at me & now Damo. It's no right or wrong involved, just seems to be a pattern of coincidence involved tonight surrounding peoples EU votes. I'm renewing my sleep tonight but will have more energy tomorrow for a different activity if you get my drift.Spiral wrote:You're coming at this from a completely adversarial point of view and you shouldn't, mate. We both know the answer to that question, although i'm curious as to why you think the answer matters.Leisure wrote:Don't think I am! Was you around then when coal mining started?
