Young soldiers pose with Tommy Robinson.
Re: Young soldiers pose with Tommy Robinson.
Robinson from what I can gather is no longer a member of the EDL which would be described as a “Far Right” group so technically he is just a member of the public who espouses opinions at odds with others. He is clever enough to point out that he is not a rascist but he has an issue with “radical Islam” which whilst many not agree with he can express those views within the letter of the law. The squaddies in question just posed and sung the name of Robinson which to me is not against the law. However if they had sung some of the songs which far right groups sing the book should be thrown at them as they are expressing political views.

The law isn’t relevant to them getting punished by the Army when you sign on the dotted line you agree to adhere to certain rules and a code of conduct etc. This I believe breaks at least one of them rules and if you get caught breaking a rule you deserve to be punished plain and simple.

Tommys ideology is extremely complex instead of trying to understand, it's less effort for some people to just go with the mainstream & conjure an opinion from that.Dy1geo wrote:Robinson from what I can gather is no longer a member of the EDL which would be described as a “Far Right” group so technically he is just a member of the public who espouses opinions at odds with others. Re: Young soldiers pose with Tommy Robinson.
Glad you clarified your post.
Re: Young soldiers pose with Tommy Robinson.
There is a difference between those that support him and those that support freedom of speech. As the saying goes "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" which is attributed to Voltaire.
Jakub under what rule is being pictured and singing the name of a divisive individual are they guilty of?
Robinson views need to be defeated through reasoned arguments. Stifling them or some poor squaddies getting punished for being pictured with him singing his name will only fuel his agenda.

Agree, it just doesn't look good, people claim to understand Tommys ideology but you will only defeat the ideology by understanding the ideology & the complexities ingrained within it & no other way.Dy1geo wrote:There is a difference between those that support him and those that support freedom of speech. I can’t agree with Jarrow I think the whole Tommy thing started when he witnessed our soldiers being spat on and abused by a dozen Muslim radicals I feel he is genuinely patriotic and would be unhappy if these lads got more than a slap ...

That was the time he caused a rumpus by not attending the official dinner and for not bowing in front of the Cenotaph. So horses for courses there.
Any pictures of him with current serving members of the British Army rather than at national events he is obliged to attend like this in his role as leader of HM Opposition?

Re: Young soldiers pose with Tommy Robinson.
Think you'll find Jarrow is or was a serving soldier.
Tommy put all his political ideologies down in a book (as everyone knows, thats where these guys have to start). Only thing missing was it doesn't have a catchy title about his fight and it wasn't written in prison (even though he's spent plenty of time in them)

Jeremy Corbyn is many things but a man who is proud of the British Army he most certainly is NOT.SonofPog wrote:Damn him for missing lunch to stay behind and honour our veterns!
You can try and spin this however you want but Corbyn's track record speaks for itself. He consistently supports and provides succour to many regimes and causes who are pitted against the UK and our armed forces.

Can we move this away from Jeremy Corbyn and back to Tommy Robinson please.
We have enough anti-Labour posts on this board without turning this into yet another.

Has he ever posted some self promotion on the internet knowing he’d get soldiers into trouble? Because Robinson did and he’s supposed to be big on supporting our ‘brave lads’.Rowls wrote:Jeremy Corbyn is many things but a man who is proud of the British Army he most certainly is NOT.

I really wouldn't have a problem with liberals if they took the refugees and third world migrants they are so keen about into their own well to do areas, instead they'd much rather saturate them into already poor, overcrowded working class communities. A much more convenient means of achieving that warm, fuzzy feeling inside that they crave so much

Nowadays people use it to mean the opposite of conservative, when in fact it is the opposite of authoritarian.
It's not a dirty word. It's a label i'm proud to wear.

I'm more than happy for more taxpayer money to be spend on refugee housing to allow them a more comfortable standard of living. The problem is when we do that you lot will scream like children because out government is giving them a better standard of living that poor people.
So then we say "ok, increase welfare" and you're like "what? no! ******* scroungers!"
So then we say "lets increase tax on the rich to pay for these refugees" and you're like "omfg you communist bastards!"
and so on and so on until eventually you just fess up and say "we don't want foreigners here!"

Yes JC the bit about doing it for publicity! what we don't see on the vid is how the 2 first come together TR is a face and it's more likely the young lads were drawn to him or recognised him and he seems genuinely chuffed to get their somewhat muted support, I've watched a lot of his stuff and he doesn't come across as cruel enough to put young uk soldiers at risk on purpose more unwittingly...

I am assuming the point he is making is that is easy to be detached from the reality when it never really touches your everyday life.
Of course it's wonderful to want to help everyone, but the reality of such large numbers, so quickly, is that it changes those communities drastically.

I think he does get a raw deal from the media, definately some truth in the accusations he makes against them, specifically the BBC.
I watched question time last week, The performance from dimbleby was shocking. He shouted down a perfectly rational panelist who spoke eloquently about immigration, then allowed a black poet to continue uninterrupted for seemingly ages. Talk about double standards !!!!

Re: Young soldiers pose with Tommy Robinson.
The lads deserve everything they get.
The British Army is a public service and they cannot be allowed to be seen supporting such a contraversial character, whatever end of the spectrum they’re on.
You’d have to be brain dead not to see how that looks to British Muslims, failure to act on this could lead to more fuel for extremist ideals and possible future attacks.
“The British Army supports Tommy Robinson” is such a damaging and dangerous tag line.
Textbook irony that most of the half wits on this board think this should be allowed and have delusions of the left being a threat to national security.
