One provider, the Banque Alimentaire has over 100 branches in France, serving 200 million meals a year to 1.85 million people.
Is this the same France that's a member of your beloved European Union? ......

This kind of situation would never arise in the Eurotopian Union........Imploding Turtle wrote:This is what happens when a population gets sick of struggling to feed themselves despite being in employment.
And when riots start you inevitably have the state gets violent right back.

Re: French Riots
I'm sorry Rowls, but you are wrong on this one. You called Turtle "mon petite tortue", which I am sure you you know should be "ma petite tortue". Apart from that you are absolutely right in all you say about the current situation in La belle France, in spite of Turtle's attempts to get the mob to rise up and seize power ...Vive la Revolution!!!

Re: French Riots
The rioters are simultaneously a left wing mob and also Trump supporters, apparently

Re: French Riots
Rowls must be getting very large with all that cheese.
Remarkably, due to globalisation..food travels. Unfortunately it doesn’t necessarily travel all that well to France. Conversely unlike a lot of French people, who prefer to live in London.
Whenever I go to France not a lot seems to work. Mainly due to strikes. You keep it.

Re: French Riots
Yes, but are all of those 1.85 million people, people who have sold their TVs, cancelled their phone contracts, and have walked to the food bank in their second hand boots? Or are they people who still have TVs and phones but can choose to spend their money on those because they can get food for free?Claret-On-A-T-Rex wrote:In total, around 3.5 million people rely on food banks in France.

Re: French Riots
Yup I can believe there are plenty of Trump admirers mixed in this whole shebang along with the rent-a-protester lefties. This is not a single issue protest - it's an all and sundry expression of blind anger at fuel prices + your own personal bete noir.Imploding Turtle wrote:The rioters are simultaneously a left wing mob and also Trump supporters, apparently
Trump is far more admired than you'd realise but people still express this in muffled tones and under their breath.
Keeping very trim and in shape thank you!Papabendi wrote:Rowls must be getting very large with all that cheese.

It's horses for courses. Some things over here are abysmal, others are brilliant. It's not like I'd ever pretend France is some kind of heaven on earth but I do happen to live in one of the prettiest little towns over here and am lucky enough to have a job that I love in a country where unemployment is much higher than the UK.
But the food IS excellent and nobody but nobody is truly hungry over here, just as in the UK.

Erm... Trump supporters exist. They were apparently chanting "We want Trump" while rioting in France. But Moffitt reckons the rioters were left-wingers. I'm guessing you're having trouble seeing the inconsistency.

Re: French Riots
It's a giving in to mob rule and anti-democratic tactics. There are 60 million people in France but they change their policy because 1 million act up with violence.
It's been arranged by the French government to 'give in' to persuasion-ism with the hope of giving creedence to mob agitators in the UK hoping to force a second referendum on Brexit via a 'solidarity of the people' claiming emancipation of the masses when in fact the masses have made a democratic vote for Brexit.
It was probably organized by Theresa May.
In any case they've only suspended their policy for six months.

The great unwashed are out again https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-46492070
Granting concessions in some areas may not placate all the protesters, some of whom are calling for higher wages, lower taxes, better pensions, easier university requirements and even the resignation of the president.
They don't expect much do they
