Nice 32c here so could be another game where the lads get tired in the 2nd half

Reminded me of the game in Athens after the referee had been man handled and corruptedTricky Trevor wrote:I was curious, at Brennans first yellow. Somebody was shouting, repeatedly in English, “two yellows is a red”. Did they think Brennan had already had a card? Or was it our bench warning him to be careful?
The ref was dreadful. As I mentioned, during the game, they came out second half and consistently got their afters in. He gave us plenty of FKs but no cards. He was then booking our lads for handbags.

Mitch George just yellow carded, didn't look a foul to me.
We've also got someone playing by the name of Michael Mellon - looks to young to be the Tranmere manager.

They are all scholars apart from Mellon, so two of them must be very young and soon to have 16th birthday.randomclaret2 wrote:Three 15 year olds starting for us

One of them on the right wing looks about 12.
Its early, and a learning curve, but the football looks awful. At that age we should be teaching kids to at least try and play the ball through the middle. It's no wonder they struggle to play that way when they get older.
I'm not concerned by the result, I'd accept a hammering if we played football, but this poor.

I pointed out the same, further up the thread, and was told they are only kids. They must be talented kids or they wouldn’t be on the books and yet they still can’t pass from A to B, when not under pressure.Colburn_Claret wrote:One of them on the right wing looks about 12.

Dear oh dear - 15, 16 year olds and all some of you can do is criticise - now they are unable to pass a ball. You wonder what our scouts must be doing to bring in kids with such a lack of ability.Tricky Trevor wrote:I pointed out the same, further up the thread, and was told they are only kids. CT Im not so sure the lads of the age in that team should be put to the sword on here with some of the comments made. Mix an impressionable age with what is probably the most logical age group to take to heart what is said about them on the internet, at such an early age in their career might just cost them. Kids thrive on confidence and this is not doing that while they learn their trade.
Before everyone bangs on about "oh you must be a do gooder at sports day saying its not the winning its the taking part that counts" absolutely not and far from it. But these lads need to be afforded time and not lambasted they way they are on here for god sake.

It's a fair point Tony. Nobody wants to criticise young lads, but if they are signed on to a top flight premier league team, you would expect to see some signs of flair. We know they arent the finished article, and the Turks may be older, but there is a lot of technique missing from these players that you expect to be a given.ClaretTony wrote:Dear oh dear - 15, 16 year olds and all some of you can do is criticise - now they are unable to pass a ball. I dont pretend to be an expert, it's the first chance I've had to see them live. I just find it a lot poorer than I expected.

Many of these kids are three weeks into their professional football careers, one is not even that. We are playing in a competition where we can expect the opposition to be older too. I'm not sure what you were expecting but these are kids with a hell of a lot to learn. Maybe the real answer to this is not to show the games live like this. I'm staggered at some of the negativity.Colburn_Claret wrote:It's a fair point Tony. Sums up this messageboard really, negativity after negativity. A lot of championship manager experts and spoilt premier league era fans with massively over inflated expectations

It’s boiling hot over there. It’s still pre season. The pitch is probably bobbly and rock solid. They’re 15/16. Opposition plays a style different to what they would have faced before. The team probably hasn’t played much together previously. It’s being live streamed so they’re probably more nervous than they normally would be.
Just some of the reasons why it might be worth giving these kids the benefit of the doubt.

Micky Mellon's lad
Seen on Twitter his 15 year old son , Michael , was MOM in today's under 18 game.
That must be some performance playing against lads 3 years older.

Fair comment CT but on the same slant why would you not apply moderation to the thread, and even worse delete posts advising you that it was being looked in a very poor stance? Honestly all meant with a genuine out reach to stop any further damage to the great link between this supporter club and the youth and development squad which we/you have supported whole heatedly.
This thread was started by you for an all genuine purpose so Clarets fans can keep with the youth of club, which is admirable and i personally am interested in for more than 1 reason. The fact tat some are already castrating the youth is worrying to say the least hence the request to withdraw the thread as obviously some on here cant help themselves and there is definite exposure in the team.
The fact hat these requests are being deleted is questionable at best, so please just do the right thing, before people start getting the wrong idea of club v popularity and thus more sponsorship, which all with a brain not is not the case but looks very different from another perspective.
I am just trying to be the middle man here, but i can understand the concern.

I understand your frustration mate but you can’t run a message board like that, I’m with you on your view but it says more about the type that try to judge children (in effect) let them enjoy their football and develop, results are irrelevant at that age group. Some will go on to have a good career I’m sureClaretAL wrote:And again, Im not sure why, but I will introduce you both at the Southampton match if you dont believe what i am saying, That said he says you know him and as you are such a massive backer of the youth team is very surprised

To start locking threads and deleting posts because someone has a different opinion would be downright wrong. Those of us who understand more about youth football will always try to educate. It was the ‘can’t pass from A to Z’ that got to me to be honest but would be totally wrong to remove it because that was his opinion no matter how misguided I think it is.Burnley1989 wrote:I understand your frustration mate but you can’t run a message board like that
Shame this is continuing though and I’ve felt the need to reply. As Stan would have said, it would have been chop paper now if left. I can add that the only posts removed were those telling me how to run this board, even now claiming to be a middle man.
Re: Burnley U18s to face Altinordu on Friday at 4:30 UK Time (Streamed on YouTube)
Apologies CT if I came across telling you how to run a board, that was far from my intentions, but more to highlight what was being seen by the individuals direct affected. and considering our history with the youth team did seam out of bounds, not olny by myself but a parent of one of the lads.ClaretTony wrote:To start locking threads and deleting posts because someone has a different opinion would be downright wrong. I had no messages as to why the posts had been deleted byt the way so how is one supposed to understand what seems to come across as the gagging order.

You were the one demanding the gagging order for posters who were negative and that’s why they were removed. People making negative comments, no matter how misguided I think they are, have a right to do so just as others are entitled to reply.ClaretAL wrote:Apologies CT if I came across telling you how to run a board, that was far from my intentions, but more to highlight what was being seen by the individuals direct affected. and considering our history with the youth team did seam out of bounds, not olny by myself but a parent of one of the lads.

Re: Burnley U18s to face Altinordu on Friday at 4:30 UK Time (Streamed on YouTube)
At no point did I imply a gagging order, I simply advised you the ill effect the thread was having by some individuals turning it in to firing range of the the young lads the you/we have tried so hard to help, and was reported back that this had been seen and will now be taken further. It is a sad state of affairs when we cant look at the youth team getting stronger thanks to the likes of this board, for the few that can wreck 100 good intentions in 1 post due to the age and naivety the posts are directed against, and who are active in this group, probably because of the welfare and support given from the group. all this taken in to account why would you not try to protect that youth we strive to help and promote rather than allow the damage come from the same direction?ClaretTony wrote:You were the one demanding the gagging order for posters who were negative and that’s why they were removed. U23s I get as they need to become accustomed to the bad side of football as part of their development and learning curve, but at 15 and 16?
