Rice is going to be annoyed with a £100 million valuation and only being on £30-40k a week then...

Exactly, £30m wouldn't get us two first team starters, and probably wouldn't get us a player as good as McNeil whose wages we could afford.

Seeing that also United are interested. They paid £60m for Fred, that seems like a good place to start the bidding.

It might be a bit longer than 20 years, but Dixon & Laws went for nowt I think I always thought that was a terrible piece of business :(

He won't be under 24 when his contract runs out (assuming we take up the 12 month option in 2023).

Not sure Dwight will want to stay long term unless we help him out by signing some better footballers. Must be pretty frustrating for him at times.

Talented but young and inexperienced, can beat a man but not lightning quick by any means , this far he’s not exactly set the world alight . His new agent is securing his asset value and he’s probs a solid 30m at today’s nonsensical values

Something and nothing if I recall,Dixon did go for nowt though,I wonder what kind of carreer he had when Bond give him away?what ever we got for Laws it was poor business as they were to excellent full backs.

Astronomical fee required for McNeil, he carries us going forward we literally have nothing else other than a hoof without him.

Burnley fans always love to sell a player.

Tbf to Dixon, he wasn't a success for other clubs after he left us, before he finally joined Arsenal and became a great right back for them.

Did Bond get rid of both fullbacks together? Out of interest does anyone remember who he replaced them with?

But that will mean we will have had a so called 50m player for 4 years. Id take that.

With the current situation with our midfield there should be no sale at any price, without strengthening in that section. The strengthening should be in quality not numbers. If our last transfer windows are anything to go by the powers that be we will fail to improve our midfield and still sell McNeil especially if an offer exceeding £25M is made.

If we were to sell McNeil we'd likely end up replacing him with yet another steady, do a job type of player. As our only shred of creativity I'd say he's priceless to us at the moment.

Agreed! McNeil is priceless to us. If United want him back then prepare to go full Pogba on him.

Both very good proven players bought to bolster the squad and possibly with an eye on returning to the Championship ;)

Kieran Trippier.

At the time, thought we were robbed for Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mings too.

Worth more to us than anybody would offer at the moment.
If he keeps improving through this season, he may get to the sort of purchase price that we could be tempted by but quite a bit of water to pass under the bridge until then.

Definitely robbed for Mings. I didn't even know we had bought him never mind sold him!

Clause in Trippiers contract stipulated what we had to sell him for.
