Villa v Liverpool
Re: Villa v Liverpool
How about excluding the teams who qualify for Europe from the League Cup? That way it becomes a competition that the rest of the Prem and even the best teams in the Championship would have a decent chance of progressing and winning a trophy. I'm sure the big clubs would be happy to sit out the league cup.

Re: Villa v Liverpool
That would be challenged by those excluded unless the European place was removed from the winner. In which case it would become even less relevant to the rest of the PL and those aiming for promotion from the Championshipjrgbfc wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 3:18 pmHow about excluding the teams who qualify for Europe from the League Cup? Took a 92nd minute winner from Firminio to beat the Mexican Champions.Sproggy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 7:51 amI think Klopp used this fixture to make a point. They could have flown 15 of the first team squad out and a few reserves to play against the might of Monterrey leaving a reasonable team to play Villa reserves, then have them join up tomorrow in time for the final.

Only if it was their 2nd team!

I'd just drop the league Cup. It's become the poorer, irrelevant cousin of the already irrelevant F.A Cup.
