TVC15 (above - no post numbers any more!!!) makes some excellent points and it's definitely correct to suggest that essentially all clubs are chasing the PL dream and that for some that dream not only becomes a reality, but it then becomes an absolute nightmare, either sooner or later. I would suggest it's not purely a financial issue either. A club which has had a stay in the PL has supporters who are used to big days out and big teams and being part of the national spotlight. Indeed some younger supporters may well have known nothing else. Falling from that 20 team elite can feel VERY sour and like the spot lights have suddenly been turned off. Everything appears second rate and flat and supporters find it hard to keep motivating themselves, never mind players. I clearly remember feeling exactly that way when we fell out of the first division in 1976. I honestly believe almost no one on here wants BFC to drastically change what they're doing, because as TVC15 rightly points out, they are making sure we are sustainable and have at least a debt free medium term future, BUT I do believe the majority of people on here would like to see us loosen the purse strings just a little bit more and not be quite so dogmatic or appear quite so prepared to accept or assume that if our time is up, our time is up. It doesn't HAVE to be, but without a bit of short term speculation right now it really feels like it could be.
