That game is one of two that, as a teacher for forty years, I skived off - sorry, went down with a very sudden horrific sore throat, to go and see.
The drive back to Staffordshire was long but glorious.
The other was the England v Germany Euro 96 semi-final, still one of the greatest games I've ever seen. Disappointing, yes, but two damn good teams slugging it out to the end.

It was hilarious!! The PA announcer was giving it the big one before kick off, letting the locals know when Wembley tickets were going on sale. We got home at about 3.30, and I was in work for 7. Great memories.

Hi James, jamesisaburyfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:23 pmIt is. I spend a lot of late night Saturdays after my girlfriend has gone to bed with a bottle of whisky and my old season review videos, which I've had transferred to DVD. When you see a crowd reaction like that, you just want to find Stewart Day, grab him by the lapels and scream into his face "You've taken away from people the potential to feel like that. How can you sleep at night?"
Will you be putting copies of the dvd's on eBay?
Remember years ago being at a Bury-Preston game at Gigg Lane in 91-92. Bury were 2-0 down at half time and won 3-2 (or it might have been the other way round, not sure). Gary Kelly and Alan Kelly were the 2 keepers.
Never seen the footage since.

I wouldn't put the DVDs on eBay, nah. I've lent my originals out to the lads who host the get-togethers at the pubs around the ground, so they get some trade in these non-football times, but I just made copies from the digital files on my computer. If any Bury fan would like them I invariably copy them for free too. I also put loads of bitesize chunks like the Preston game online in support of the second book, so as well as reading about events you can watch them too - https://www.dailymotion.com/buryfcinthemid90sdjemba-djemba wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:51 amHi James,

I emember that Preston game, we lost 3-2. The season before Gary and Alan played against each other for the first time and Granada did a feature on Alan Sr coming from America to watch it. That footage was on a tape my mate lent me of loads of old Granada Goals Extras and Soccer Nights. Takes you right back watching it. I always used to be amazed that Rob McCaffrey or Elton Welsby (who loved The Forgotten Fifteen, btw) could sit there telling you about and showing you a game you were watching half an hour before.

I was quite confident before the 2nd leg as I compared it to when we drew 0-0:to the Nobbers in the Sherpa Van semi final.
However,at 1-0 down and playing SJF up front on his own,I turned to my mate and said that this wasn't working and needed changing!
Thank God Jimmy Mullen didn't think the same!
