This will be an agreement between you and your employer, it’s not a demand made by your customers or the government. What if you and you employer agreed that you would take a pay cut now but the money would subsequently be made up over a period of time.jackmiggins wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 2:13 pmI’m in a very secure job, but I’m expecting my employer will have to furlough me sometime soon, due to drop in orders & enquiries. My salary will drop by at least 50%. From this, I can assume that a massive proportion of our population will be facing hardship in the next few months. If our ‘professional footballers’ don’t feel they should be included, fair enough. Should they expect my support in the future?..........Doubt it. Do they expect their billionaire owners will ride the economic fallout?.......Doubt it. Let them take their full wages.......just don’t expect me to tip them when they’re emptying my bin at Xmas in five years time.

Re: Gordon Taylor
Interesting move - will he be asking Premier League owners/Chief Execs to match - Taylor makes personal £500k donation to Premier League NHS fund
https://www.skysports.com/football/news ... arity-fund
of course the Premier League do fund his £2m salary

Re: Gordon Taylor
Huge donation ( and fair play on that )but screams at me me me and disgusting that he’s paid 2m a year tbh as a union rep ,though better in the nhs than the bookies .
Prem players hugely hugely overpaid and I’d love the game to have to “ knock 50% off everything “ involving transfers ,wages etc

Re: Gordon Taylor
Should add that Taylor said over a year ago he would stepdown after a sequence of events including an enquiry - none have which have started and it is still difficult to imagine when or even if they will begin.

Re: Gordon Taylor
There is, the move is quite political and it's timing likely to be related to the media spotlight
- I have said it before so much good being focused in the direction on the NHS at the moment - yet so many feeling the loss of this re-directed focus as their needs are being forgotten. They will be a huge scandal after this about the forgotten who have been lost, the retreat of social care providers will have very long lasting effects for example

Re: Gordon Taylor
I do - it was not a political post, factual I know social care workers who are tearing their hair out because the private providers have furloughed staff and they have clients that are not being cared for, also Charities are saying they have a huge funding gap as donations are being redirected or usual fundraising activities not occurring because of lockdown - Pendleside Hospice alone fear losing over £1m this year from not having their usual fundraisers. Nothing judgemental (apart from on Taylor)

You may have a point but I don't see how it is related to Taylor

Re: Gordon Taylor
related to the very public glare giving to the NHS at this time - their need will likely be greater after this - the PTSD impact alone from frontline staff will be huge - right now there is huge growth in neglect and suffering around the country partly created by this change in public focus
