I don't actually think the football was that good in the championship season. We were devastatingly efficient, but there was no real pizazz.
The runner up season was better, IMO.

I think I must have simple tastes. Get the ball up to the business end of the field, get it into the area, score some goals - that's what football is about for me. Passing it round at the back when you're not very good at it is not exciting or pizazzful.

Not exactly change of style though Tony is it. Sam Vokes and Barnes still played 66 out of a possible 76 premier league games that season.

Sam Vokes started 7 out of the 38 games that season, Ashley Barnes started 21 while Chris Wood started 20. That's 48 between them.

The Mourinho style is poles apart from that of Dyche

He plays a back four (yes the same)

He plays with two holding midfielders and then a three (with real pace out wide) with Kane up front

They play mainly on the counter attack using that pace

He also gives Kane license to roam back into midfield knowing that the likes of Son can quickly get into the forward position

We play 4 4 2 with the ball mainly belted up to a static front two

Our midfield then generally lacks the pace to get up in support

But not sure what this has to do with Palace player contracts

His contract runs out in 2.5yrs and he's 28 now.

I'm not sure what they'd realistically get for him tbh, I've heard prices starting at around £40 million being mooted.

How much of that is because Mourinho and Dyche have different styles, and how much is because Dyche appears not to believe that Wood and Barnes can play like Kane and Son?

I agree.
We've never passed it round at the back under Dyche tho, so its a bit odd to bring that up! You may be thinking I meant the runner up season when Howe was manager?
