I don't actually think the football was that good in the championship season. We were devastatingly efficient, but there was no real pizazz.
The runner up season was better, IMO.

Re: Crystal Palace Player Contracts.
I think I must have simple tastes. Get the ball up to the business end of the field, get it into the area, score some goals - that's what football is about for me. Passing it round at the back when you're not very good at it is not exciting or pizazzful.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 3:48 pmI don't actually think the football was that good in the championship season. Sam Vokes started 7 out of the 38 games that season, Ashley Barnes started 21 while Chris Wood started 20. That's 48 between them.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 3:42 pmI mentioned it in the first post.
Not exactly change of style though Tony is it. Sam Vokes and Barnes still played 66 out of a possible 76 premier league games that season.

Mourinho has made a very good living out of doing what Dyche does but with better players.

The Mourinho style is poles apart from that of Dychearise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 4:23 pmMourinho has made a very good living out of doing what Dyche does but with better players.
He plays a back four (yes the same)
He plays with two holding midfielders and then a three (with real pace out wide) with Kane up front
They play mainly on the counter attack using that pace
He also gives Kane license to roam back into midfield knowing that the likes of Son can quickly get into the forward position
We play 4 4 2 with the ball mainly belted up to a static front two
Our midfield then generally lacks the pace to get up in support
Chalk and cheese

But not sure what this has to do with Palace player contracts

Because Spurs are the only club he’s managed. The lack of football knowledge our fans has still surprises mejojomk1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 4:31 pmThe Mourinho style is poles apart from that of Dyche

Back to the Palace situation. It seems likely that the only way to raise funds to replace some of those could be to sell Zaha.

Nothing, but some on here can't wait for the chance to belittle what Dyche has done and dismiss his chances of getting another PL job.

Re: Crystal Palace Player Contracts.
His contract runs out in 2.5yrs and he's 28 now.
I'm not sure what they'd realistically get for him tbh, I've heard prices starting at around £40 million being mooted.

I'd take townsend
Re: Crystal Palace Player Contracts.
How much of that is because Mourinho and Dyche have different styles, and how much is because Dyche appears not to believe that Wood and Barnes can play like Kane and Son?jojomk1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 4:31 pmThe Mourinho style is poles apart from that of Dyche

Defensively he's ideal, seems a bit wayward with his crossing though

Perfect for us

Re: Crystal Palace Player Contracts.
I agree.
We've never passed it round at the back under Dyche tho, so its a bit odd to bring that up! You may be thinking I meant the runner up season when Howe was manager?
