I remember Big Vince knocking lumps out of John Fashanu on a couple of occasions ..

Not sure about hard but one of the toughest players was good old Andy Farrell.Never one to shirk anything,he was always in the thick of things...a real, mean, ornery hombre!

Asked my dad his views on this. He immediately mentioned Harold Mather who he thought was very dirty. Also Alan Brown who he said was the cleanest tackler he saw - he never had dirty shorts! Apparently he didnt do sliding tackles but managed to stop 'em.

It would be interesting to see how this team performed against the current Man City team.

There’d be no backing off waiting for the City players to ‘perform their magic’.

fifty years ago, Burnley win. Now, match abandoned in the first half because Burnley have fewer than 7 players left.

Keith Newton at left back for sure. Took no prisoners.

Blacklaw
Bardsley Brown Mee Newton
Barton O’Neill Blant Ball
Lochhead Barnes

Good luck playing against that team
