The compensation is nothing though, you really think PL clubs wont spend £2-3m compensation for the right manager? I can't remember if Dyche was still on a rolling yearly contract when we qualified for the Europa League qualifiers.superdimitri wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:19 pmThis just illustrates my point more. If he doesn't have much interest then (which I think he probably did actually) then running a contract low only opens up his options more. Clubs are not going to want to pay compensation like they would have had to when we finished higher and Dyche was under a longer contract.
That's why him signing now is important, because it makes sure if he does go we get some compensation.

Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
If Dyche leaves for some reason without a new job lined up then I could see him taking the England U21 job and working alongside Southgate with a view to succeeding him after the next Euros.
Southgate is often at Burnley and so must know Dyche well and I think it would really help Dyche's development and lead him to becoming a top international manager.
Success at international level could then give him a route into big clubs such as Villa, Everton, Leeds, West Ham etc

If he leaves here with no job lined up he'll fall into footballing abyss.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:26 pmIf Dyche leaves for some reason without a new job lined up then I could see him taking the England U21 job and working alongside Southgate with a view to succeeding him after the next Euros.

Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
I think your vastly underestimating how much compensation you have to pay. It's based on the managers wages and we all know that Dyche has been paid really well by us since his last contract. His new contract no doubt he will want even more money.
To use a recent news article as an example. Palace were rumored to have to pay 3m comp for a years contract left this summer. Sign a 3 to 5 year contract and that goes up to 9-15m.
Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
but he's not on a 3-5 year deal, so what's the point? He was on a rolling contract for so long and nobody came in for him.superdimitri wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:33 pmI think your vastly underestimating how much compensation you have to pay. Not good when any manager holds the club to ransom
No wonder we struggle to attract any players

Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
If the likes of Palace don't see SD as the man for the job then I doubt any role in the England set up will be coming his way, besides which he doesn't really trust younger players anywayDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:26 pmIf Dyche leaves for some reason without a new job lined up then I could see him taking the England U21 job and working alongside Southgate with a view to succeeding him after the next Euros.

It is going to be a difficult decision for him to make
Would have thought he was looking at some substantial financial backing this window but the lack of done deals seems to put a shadow on that theory and maybe, therefore, his appetite to stay
If the money is not there now what's the guarantee for the future.
Pace wants him to stay for 10 years (that's gone down from 25 yrs in his early interviews) but I could see him just waiting until the end of next season
If Tarks can do it then so can Dyche
Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
David Moyes was seen as a bit of a dead end manager after his first stint as West Ham. He's managed to re invent himself since.

Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
To be fair to Moyes he'd already got top 4 with Everton, was named LMA 3 times (second to only Alex Fergusson) and managed Man Utd.
It was only a matter of time before he showed again what a top manager he is

Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
Alan Pace didn't know how old Sean Dyche was when he spoke of 25 years. He now knows that 10 years will take Sean Dyche through to his 60s. 10 years, of course, is a massive time for a contract.

Pace on transfers
Still sounds confident (from the Athletic)
“We’ll still be much stronger when we are done and many conversations are live as we speak,” Pace said.
Burnley’s chairman said a lot of the right things during a 30-minute conversation with journalists at Turf Moor on Wednesday. He explained the difficulties of a transfer process that he is still learning following December’s takeover and was open about the situation.
There was an honest admission that the squad needs to be added to and there is a belief that this can be a transfer window they will be pleased with when it’s all over. Yet, Pace also admitted that things may go down to the wire to get deals over the line before the 11pm UK time deadline on August 31 and he was realistic that the club may not be able to achieve everything they want to.
For the first time in his near nine-year reign, Dyche was presented with a summer transfer budget to work with by new owners ALK, offering clarity and a clear structure as to what can and cannot be afforded.
After arriving at the start of January, ALK formed a technical committee which is now essentially acting as a transfer committee. It involves the scouting department, the first-team coaching staff and their academy colleagues.
Pace outlined that the budget and strategy new ownership has brought in mean it will take Burnley multiple transfer windows to where they want to be.
Thinking long-term is an important part of transfer strategy and Pace was keen to point out academy recruitment is a crucial part of that. So too is branching out into the global market.
“We are at the beginning of a very long race,” said Pace.

Re: Pace on transfers
We will wait and see but it’s a little reassuring to hear he’s being bullish when there’s only just over two weeks to go. Clearly there is a lot going on behind the scenes and there is money to spend judging by the continuous strong links that have been made.
The Cornet thing seems to be main target, it gets mentioned every now and then and to my knowledge has never been shot down by the likes of Nixon, Boden or The Athletic like quite a few others have.

Re: Pace on transfers
So, we have targets and we want to get them thru the door, but we may not be able to do that.
Sounds like we are just going thru the same motions we always have, there’s no new message here.

Sounds very similar to January when he said he would back Dyche.
Lets hope he is true to his word. Big 2 weeks ahead for pace and Co

Re: Pace on transfers
You have to imagine we're making offers under the valuation/asking price at the moment and perhaps will only reach the actual figure needed on deadline day, as is so often the way. The selling clubs have all the power and if Lyon (for example) believe that we're desperate enough to knock a bid up from £11m to the £13m they actually want in a matter of 2 weeks, why would they accept what we're offering now? All hypothetical, but just my suspicions.
Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
All very realistic comments for me.
It must be difficult spending in the right areas at a club like ourselves.
It's like managing the family budget , it's fine if you have a top job with plenty of income and a huge bank account , you can spend on what you want when you want but when you have a steady job with a modest income , you have to balance your outgoings , over indulge in one area and lose out in another which could blow the family budget apart.
I don't envy the man in fairness .

I would have liked a few more in now, January could put a whole new perspective on transfers if we’re struggling at that stage.

Re: Alan Pace relaxed on transfer window and Dyche contract
The strategy of the club is let’s see where we are in jan, then jan comes along and it’s let’s see where we are in the summer, then the summer comes along and the attention turns back to jan and so on...
