Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
Ambition and attitude shown by Roberts to play at the highest level possible and try and get in the starting 11 is much more the kind you want than the one shown by Christie.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
Right age, right attitude, right-footed, right-sided player, right good throw (assists for Wood, Mee and Tarks coming soon), right price. Just right.

I've just watched the video and realised that, but I'd just read it in the Welsh press.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:38 pmthose are quotes from the Burnley interview on Clarets+

If you've bothered to read this board over the last few weeks, you'll have noticed that there has been plenty of premature complaining about lack of signings. The more sensible posters said at least wait until the window has shut!summitclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:31 pmWhy do you have to spoil the party? The called usual suspects were mainly right about what needed to be done after several shocking windows. It's now been done, so let's all celebrate.
How am I spoiling the party? If you look, I've called it an excellent window!

Yeah I think we have signed a good lad here with the right positive attitude towards his challenge. On a side note it's good to see the Chairman tweet a welcome to the new players joining the club, I don't recall seeing that before.

Another good signing and not silly money, will be excellent cover when fully fit.

He was the one who scored in injury time v Russia when Bale took the ball to the corner flag then span along the touchline, and pulled it back for Roberts to score. Remember wondering what the hell the full back was doing in the opposition penalty area when you're winning 1-0 with seconds to go !

Dyche is thorough and I'm sure he's discussed him with Cork (Swansea) and Vokes (Wales).

I'd hope this lad is coming to try and cement a place in our first team, neither mind as cover, he sounds ambitious which is great to see.CnBtruntru wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:50 pmAnother good signing and not silly money, will be excellent cover when fully fit.
2 solid signings in Hennessey & Lennon, and 3 really good additions in Collins, Cornet & now Roberts.
Saw this lad in the Euro's and he was one of wales best performers, so to get him for a bargain fee is an even bigger bonus.
8/10 window so far for me, and if we could get another CM through the door, and also providing nobody leaves, this will arguably have been one of our best ever summer windows.
I harboured my doubts about Alan Pace and his colleagues, but you can't deny they have delivered where it matters most.

I'm genuinely excited about this signing. I think he has the potential to be almost as good as Richard Huxford.

Richard Huxford, one of Heath's brighter moments. No wonder Parky walked out.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 3:39 pmI'm genuinely excited about this signing. I think he has the potential to be almost as good as Richard Huxford.

Well we’ve got him for a cracking price. Seen him a fair bit, he’s athletic and can play right sided midfield as well as Right Back. Gets forward really well and a season watching how we defend will certainly benefit him

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
Looks like the best 'fit' of all the signings in my view - although it could be argued Cornet and Collins have more raw potential.
My only concern would be whether he gets 'Gibson syndrome' having spent almost his entire career at Swansea should things not go his way initially. He seems like a good character - so hopefully not.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
Would think 2 mill is max fee. He was in last year of contract and is out until end of Sept ( CT) following groin surgery. Not seen him or Cornet play.
Overall we have resigned Lennon (at reduced wages I suspect). Hennessey has replaced BPF while he gets a full season in the Championship. Great for both players and us.
Brady has cut the wagr bill and Gibson has made way for Collin
Overall net spend appears to be around 20 million so far and I think overall wage bill might increase slightly.
Certainly a better window than normal. All very much Dyche style players with the exception maybe of Cornet. Just hope we don’t have any last minute sales of any of our better players

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
Cardiff had a couple of long throw experts in their team in 2018/19 when they were in the Premier League. In preparation for those games, we had Jordan Cropper training with the first team because he could throw it long.claretandy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 4:50 pmThis.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
He is not genuinely quick, but he is genuinely high energy.
Classic burnley signing from the point of view of effort and work rate.
He is not as talented a full back as Lowton as there is always a mistake there waiting to happen. But he is a solid and end to end wing back so maybe this is a sign that there might suddenly be a plan b by using him with Taylor as wing backs. Shocker!
John oster and Mark kendal to be added to the Welsh list above and I'm sure there was another goalkeeper but can't remember who that was.

Good shout on those two although Oster another English born Welsh international.
There were two other Welsh goalkeepers - Jeff Parton in the 1970s & Wayne Russell in the 1990s.

Pleased with this.
Made me think of Brian Easton who is 33 now
..and chalked up an assist last season for Hamilton Accies up there on the Glasgow fringes...very popular lad up there by all accounts..lets hope Connor can rocket down our touchline banging over pinpoint crosses to the same effect.

Should get Trippier in as cover for Lowton, Bardsley & Roberts. Always said he would only play for Burnley if he came back to UK. (tongue in cheek) Robetrs will prove to be a good investment !!
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
Second highest key chances created in the championship behind Buendia last season. It feels like we have pulled off a major steal here.

Any throw-in conceded within about thirty yards of the opposition's corner flags suddenly turn into a situation as dangerous as a free-kick.
Lazy comparisons to Stoke will no doubt intensify.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets clinch Roberts signing
I love this signing because it shows we are planning for the future and getting good players when they become available. RB wasn't an immediate priority, but clearly moved quickly to secure a real talent when available on a sensible deal
