A move to a club where he can be first choice would help him get back on track.
I'd have him here, especially as Cork is entering the twilight of his career and Stephens is pretty much at the end of his.
I just wouldn't have the illusion that he'd be a forward attacking player like Gallagher for example.
To be fair I don’t think anyone has suggested that? I see him as more of a Defour type. Passes the ball around well and helps us create more by increasing the tempo of the passing.
Defour was exceptional because of the speed in which he passed and the fact he rarely got less than 80-85% pass completion. I think Winks would offer some similar

The stats would suggest he wouldn't be anything like a defour type player.
Gallagher would be.

Gallagher isn't anything like Defour. You should watch some more football.

He has a more attacking/forward thinking style like Defour though was my point.
Winks is more defensive and less likely to sit there pulling the strings like Defour did.

Have to totally agree with RVclaret - much better watching football than looking at stats.

Defour was defensive. Played very deep and ran the midfield. A fair comparison to what winks does.

Winks does the same as Brownhill, gets the ball and passes it to someone more creative.
More often than not he passes it sideways, or very short distances.
Winks doesn't sit there pulling strings

I don’t really agree, he’s a completely different player.
This article is similar to how I perceive him. A player that gets the ball and regularly breaks the lines (similar to Defour)

Partly proves my point that he passes it short distances and very few long ranging passes.
Good article though
