And yet they would rather have Benitez over Howe, despite being no better than Bruce.
Remind us of when Bruce won the Champions League .

Must be about time for Eddie’s last minute change of heart about taking it.
It was his coaching staff who rejected Celtic, I think.

The records of benitez and Bruce whist managing Newcastle are almosy identical.
I guess the new owners think Eddie can do better than either.

It beggars belief that Amanda Stavely persuaded someone to sign a cheque for £350m without sorting out a manager first

Says a lot about how little planning has gone into this venture. This could be Venkys mark two.

Is this the same Howe that was sacked/relieved/resigned after his relegation with Bournemouth.

Good appointment from our perspective IMO. Was worried they'd get someone who would make a significant impact - this keeps them in the relegation battle.

Newcastle’s biggest problem is their defence and Howe is not recognised for his defensive organisation . That is his biggest challenge.
I like listening to him but others tell me they don’t think he will be strong enough to deal with the likes of Lascelles who is stealing a living in the PL.
I hope Eddie succeeds

Strange, isn't it?
i probably come over as a bit anti-Dyche, but I wish every other PL manager fails.

Some people think the likes of Newcastle & Leeds won’t be involved in the final reckoning even though now that looks like a real possibility & are looking towards Brentford & Watford as our real relegation rivals.

True to a certain degree, I just don’t see some teams being involved at the end or even being remotely close I could be wrong & time will definitely tell if I’m right or wrong, I just think Leeds & Newcastle will have too much about them.

Eddie Howe took over a horrible dressing room at Burnley and even if you never liked him or rated him the one thing you cant deny is that he did a great job in getting rid of all the old disruptive pro's and refreshed things with a lot of good young players both in attitude and ability

The squad and dressing room Dyche took over was streets ahead of the one Laws left behind

Yeah, he should have stuck with all the senior pro's who basically downed tools under Laws and thought they ran the club. Clark Carlisle admitted as much in his autobiography.

On the flip side, nobody who is/was involved with youth team football at Burnley has a good word to say about him with regards to that level of the club.

How's that related to anything in mine and Ian's post and let me know which people in the youth set up you have personally spoken to or seen directly quoted comments from as whilst it may be true Im guessing that your opinions on the youth set up under Howe come from CT and a few of his like minded mates who arent the most balanced posters where Howe is concerned

Wasnt the main bogey man Jason Blake and didnt he stay on under Dyche for a few years after Howe left. Also wasnt McNeil brought into the club under Howe's tenure?

I'll second that sentiment.

There are some good footballers at Newcastle but most are playing below their potential. Can Eddie get them to play to their strengths? Hopefully not in time to save them.

As we have seen with other Clubs, money alone is not enough.

Watch this space.

Eddie Howe managing the richest club in the world.

Words that nobody, least of all Eddie himself, would expect to hear.

I think Howe can do defensive. I recall seeing a live TV game with Bournemouth at Man Utd and they defended excellently.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39086674

There were others too.

Anyway he's learnt alot and may now be ready. I wouldn't dismiss him so easily.

Dear oh dear, there’s little to answer to that , though to twist that into supposedly making fun at Howe’s mum death is pure cowardice. Imagine saying that face to face eh?

For the record It was public knowledge about his family why he left . The wife jokes were before he signed “ dragging her away from Bournemouth to Burnley “ etc and you well know it. I always thought his mum passed while he was here ? though that’s possibly incorrect

Why replace Bruce and replace with Howe.

He was an abject failure in my eyes for his time with us. Slow boring football we were sliding down the table fast.

Hope they appoint him though as I’m certain they won’t survive his first 6 months in charge.

He certainly wasn't first choice..that's always a bad start...like you say no one really wanted Howe at Newcastle..rejection by others have forced their hand with be intresting to watch it unfold.

Ah your referring to some of the players he signed then? Which really makes his record and performance for us much worse then in context with such talent at his disposal.
