Re: Newcastle v Burnley - Player Ratings
I didn’t think he was amazing by any stretch of the imagination but I thought he broke up play well, he put a couple of huge tackles in when they were breaking on us and his distribution by largely okay. He’s very often guilty of playing the ball behind the onrushing player but I thought he kept his distribution simple and reasonably accurate. I think there’s a fair few who have made their mind up on Brownhill and I have to say he’s been very poor so far this season but I thought he had a pretty decent game on Saturday by all accounts and rated him as so.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:55 pmI agree with most of your ratings but I'd be interested to hear about your rating for Bronwnhill. Happy to disagree of course but intrigued to hear your views

Re: Newcastle v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 5 '(apart from literally "giving" the game away, he did OK and tbf, most refs would have called his blunder a foul)
Lowton 6
Tarks 7
Collins 7 (composed and assured and surely a stalwart in the making, but he did have to drag somebody down and take a yellow after his one and only mistake)
Taylor 8 (+1 for amazing goal saving block)
Westwood 5
Brownhill 5
JBG 6
McNeil 5 (should have crossed right at the death when in a great position and with our players queuing unmarked to nod in, but he simply blasted the ball stupidly!)
Wood 4
Cornet 5
Vydra 5
Jay 6
Roberts 6
Yet another game where the marks for the defence are more than reasonable because they actually did pretty well (like at Wolves) but once you start moving into the midfield the marking falls away and by the time you get to the strike "force"
it's difficult to get above a 4! CTs report alludes to toothless and that's how we appear to me. Nowt really wrong with us defensively, even with a first choice CB out and a back up in, but bugger all quality or threat beyond that. And Newcastle WERE poor!!
