I don't mind admitting I would have got it wrong in a pub quiz although I might have lucky guessed. I would 100% have got it wrong if it was a photo round. My ignorance doesn't diminish her achievements or her suitability for SPOTY recognition.. I don't vote anyway.spadesclaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 1:30 pm"Dame Sarah Storey = who and why ?"

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year
Fury has full in your face personality but how many three minute rounds has he fought in 2021?
I’d rather it went to somebody that has actually entertained us regularly with their sporting prowess.
Won’t be watching anyway. What was a years sporting review has become a waste of time and effort.

My top 3:
1) Radacanu
2) Storey
3) Peaty
Always love SPOTY. It is a great reminder of the breadth of sporting achievement in the year and done in a heart warming way.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year
I don't watch any longer as it's not like it used to be (as others have already alluded to). But I think if I was Jason Kenny I'd be seriously wondering why I wasn't in the final six shortlisted. Being at the very top of the all time list of our gold winning olympic medallists with SEVEN surely merited him being in the final six at the very least.

So a lass who has won one tournament has won it.
Whilst I watched the final and she deserved it.
Uk sports personality of the year, a joke.

She might not repeat it. Her future performance was not being judged under SPOTY.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 9:20 pmIt was I agree, one she might never repeat. She appears to be following Beckham model of success.

Didn't watch it,
but does this young lady have a sporting personality?

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year
Well it's always fixed to favour sports that the BBC covers, and in a non-Olympic year that's only tennis, the boat race and some rugby.
Not the right sort of rugby, of course, as otherwise Alan wyn Jones would be on the list after leading the lions and breaking a whole load of records, but he's not cute, so that's a disadvantage.
Tyson fury is right. He should not be considered. Anybody whose "sport" involves doing your best to cause a head injury should not be considered. We've just lost another of our title winning heroes to alzheimers making 7 of that squad. And they were just heading footballs.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year
Not my cup of tea, but my favourite thing about SPOTY is the people who come on here every year making themselves look foolish by not understanding that some words, personality, for example, have more than one meaning.

Who gives a t**s anymore? Stopped watching it 20 yrs ago, when the Beeb lost most of the live sport it WAS so brilliant at broadcasting. Inter County basket weaving never seemed so interesting. SPOTY? One big bore-fest.
Jesus Christ, what happened to being kind?

the entire smug fest is putrid, aimed at golf bores and wine o clock housewives.
Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year
BBC didn't cover the US Open tennis and it was an Olympic year, but apart from that, good points.timshorts wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 10:44 pmWell it's always fixed to favour sports that the BBC covers, and in a non-Olympic year that's only tennis, the boat race and some rugby.

Yes, the tired, old anti-BBC agenda...............usually from those who bang on most about it being wrong to mix sport and politics.
Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year
I was disgusted that Jimmy Robson wasn’t included in those who had sadly passed away since last years programme
