This is actually a really interesting thing to think about. I reckon Dyche, like most managers, perhaps a bit more so because he's proven to be very good at his job, knows in intense detail the principles and intricacies of different styles of football and how certain players fit into those styles, and from there, he, like all other managers, are bound by two major things, their instincts (including their faith in their ability to communicate to the players a play style), and their budgets. Dyche has forever been shackled by his budgets in a way most other managers aren't relative to their leagues, and his success has been built on him being pragmatic and utterly without delusion about what any certain groups of players can achieve. Fans of other clubs have always said they'd love to see what Dyche can achieve with a budget. We aren't Newcastle/City/Chelsea etc with blank cheques, but more often than not whenever the purse strings have been loosened for Dyche it's been exciting. I don't think he's a dinosaur hostile to modern football, I don't think he dislikes flair players on a point of principle, he's just pragmatic.claretgimmer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 12:29 amMy concern is who is driving the new transfers regarding the type of player we are looking at, if it`s Dyche then he will want another big man or does he do an about turn in his philosophy and go for the smaller pacier type of player in which case is he and his team the best equipped group to train our hopefully new recruits in a completely different game plan, I was led to believe it was more at Paces behest that Cornet was purchased although he had been looked at earlier.

That is a thought I have had since his clear displeasure in being substituted at Leeds a couple of weeks ago.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 10:18 pmMaybe, just maybe he's been a rotten apple that has caused unrest in the camp, hence
the poor attitude by some and performances of late.
Who knows, just a theory ?
His performances have not hit the heights of previous seasons, and to be fair, his body language has suggested his heart is not in it recently.
I have no axe to grind with him. He's been fantastic for us, but with stale performances from him and the team in general, it may be a change is beneficial to both him and the club.

Might be worth keeping in min, release clause = player wants an easy route out of club at some stage, if it's an option.

Vids is a decent player and offers pace but he is not the man to pin our season on.
He seems to have had more comings than Ron Jeremy.

Very true, its a gamble selling Wood but for me its a gamble we have to take and i think Alan Pace knows that.Johma wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 11:49 pmNo you put he was our best ever and i alluded to your point. Hes not done much for us for a long time and looks a shadow of the player he was. Right now - hes been shite and for a while. Partly down to who is around him i agree, but you cant say 25 mil isnt excellent business
We need somebody younger hungrier and willing to get us going. Hes not the man to do that for us. Neither is jay barnes or vydra. Spend and bring in something to get us going again
