Long kick from Alisson. Weghorst jumps to head alongside Alexander-Arnold who doesn't jump. Injury appears to happen as he lands. No impact at all.Claretforever wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 10:33 amHe looked to have been sandwiched between two players, the one on the inside running right into him. So other players were involved, though not having seen it back I don’t know whether it was how he landed or the impact from the players which caused it?

Re: Weghorst injury
I said it looked concerning as no other player sneeringly involved but it didn’t look like an ACL to me, he seemed to be holding his backside and upper leg more than anything.

Re: Weghorst injury
That's not when the injury happened.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 11:47 amLong kick from Alisson. Weghorst jumps to head alongside Alexander-Arnold who doesn't jump. Injury appears to happen as he lands. No impact at all.
He clashes hips with Tiago a minute before and limps away, the next long ball downfield by Pope sees him jump for the ball but the previous knock is where the pain is from. The TV broadcast showed the wrong clip when he went off.
For anyone wanting to see the incident it happens straight after Pieters lets the ball go out of play under pressure from Salah. The clip they showed on TV was when Pope kicked the ball from his hands a minute or so afterwards.

Re: Weghorst injury
Correct, Tiago went over to check on him the first time he went down as he was involved in the incident.Claretforever wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 10:33 amHe looked to have been sandwiched between two players, the one on the inside running right into him. No malice, he just got sandwiched between him and Matip (I think).

Re: Weghorst injury
Claret Tony says not, but I haven’t seen it back. I remember looking at the time thinking he’d be aggressively sandwiched, and he seemed hurt from that. He then went up for a header not long afterwards.

I was flicking through the Sky Sports channels last night and saw it again.Claretforever wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 1:04 pmClaret Tony says not, but I haven’t seen it back. It's just as described above, the confusion will come from the clip the broadcaster used as Weghorst went off, which showed him landing after the header, he was already is quite a bit of pain from the initial challenge and the pain he suffered when landing is to be expected if you've recently clashed hips/received a dead leg.

Re: Weghorst injury
I don’t think he’d have shown as much frustration as he did, if it was something as minor as a dead leg or cramp.

I've taken another look but I can't find the incident at all. I'll check it out again.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 12:45 pmThat's not when the injury happened.

Re: Weghorst injury
Just watched it on the Sky 90 minute rerun.
Definitely hurt around the left hip area from that initial collision (the one after Pope launched one), no knee injury as far as I can see, went off holding his glute / upper hamstring as others have said. I thought his scream was one of frustration at the time but it looks like genuine pain causing it.
I’m more optimistic than I was after seeing that TV clip just of him landing.

Re: Weghorst injury
Good spot. No injury is ever good news but it’s not his knee. Looks as though it’s his hip that he’s feeling then.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 12:45 pmThat's not when the injury happened.

The incident I saw initially was just a few seconds later.

Re: Weghorst injury
Doesn't sound too bad. Potentially good news.
Re: Weghorst injury
When he started beating the ground I thought "oh no that's his season over". But the way he was moving both off the pitch and the end, seems it was more like pure frustration and him wanting to continue. Fingers crossed

Will this be a secret until the pre-match presser on Thursday? It's big bloody news for us.

At which point the secret will be revealed with the ever informative, touch and go.
I used to think that meant said player had a chance of playing. I now know it to mean crocked and will be out for months.

Re: Weghorst injury
He's probably going in for a hip replacement already
Re: Weghorst injury
New leg on order but delayed owing to Brexit.
Re: Weghorst injury
The delay is caused by getting one of the required length.

Or get a normal sized one but place it closer to the camera like they did in Lord of the Rings.

Dyche saying he should be fine for Brighton. Great news.
