The Championship has become much weaker over the last few seasons and the bulk of the current squad would have a great chance of an instant return to the Premier League.
As the Championship has got weaker the Premier league has become stronger.
When we finished 7th there were 13 clubs below us and to prove the point if we are relegated along with Norwich and Watford then there would be only about 6 teams fighting to stay in Premier Division next season— The 3 promoted teams plus Brentford Brighton and possibly Leeds and this will continue for many years to come ( I believe)

Re: Breaking point
If we stroll towards relegation and go down without showing a bit more snap and tactical nouse then the time may be right to part ways.
This current first team (I won't say squad because SD rarely utilises it unless forced) is nowhere near good enough to mount a Promotion push next season IMHO.
A motivated Dyche with a freshened squad though would be interesting.

Is that what he is saying?Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 7:08 pmAll true, but all Crosspool is asking for is the fans (for example, the ones shouting at McNeil from the start) to concentrate on backing the team
sorry, i didn't get that, I thought the "we" rather more referred to ascertaining that the players actually put in something.

Sounds like you're relishing in it!boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 7:05 pmThere is little or no chance of the current squad and manager turning this around It's been happening for two seasons, last season we just managed it mainly due to the ineptitude of 3 other clubs.

As it's been mentioned on the other post, the levels of delusion have reached a ridiculous level.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 9:41 pmYep, absolutely relishing it![]()
That is as daft as you can get, Spijed.
Open your eyes, we've been very poor for the last two seasons, and that is a fact.
We weren't poor last season because we survived, which is all a club of our size can ever reasonably expect to do.
Unless you expect us to carry on doing something NO other club of our size has EVER managed to achieve in modern times which is to continually defy the odds - season after season.

You are entitled to believe that, no problem.Spijed wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 9:47 pmAs it's been mentioned on the other post, the levels of delusion have reached a ridiculous level.

But at least I don't make snide remarks about or to you, even if I totally disagree with you.
I'm not deluded. I watch football, it's a game, supposedly entertainment. Over the last two years we have been the least effective (and IMO entertaining) since we last achieved PL status.
