Easy draw AGAIN for Southgate, all the way to the quarters when France will despatch us.

The England v Iran and USA v Iran in the Middle East should be interesting.

Why all this anti-Southgate nonsense?

Come on folks, get behind him!

Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Netherlands, Senegal

Group B: England, Iran, USA, Scotland/Wales/Ukraine

Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland

Group D: France, UAE/Australia/Peru, Denmark, Tunisia

Group E: Spain, Costa Rica/New Zealand, Germany, Japan

Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia

Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon

Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

Doesn't appear to be a "Group of Death" in there, they all seem fairly well balanced.
You could probably predict who's getting out of those groups and be fairly accurate but there's bound to be a big country who has an utter mare at the time like we've seen in the past.

Nowt as queer as folk. Imagine wanting your country to lose because you haven’t got the backbone to admit that you were wrong about Southgate. No different than the Dyche Out lot relishing in our defeats.

Southgate is Dyche’s alter ego. Good team rapport, not the best tactician, plays very defensive, likes his favourites.

The trouble is that unlike Dyche England have possibly the best forward players for decades yet we sit two men in front of a very poor back four / five and this results in a turgid game and, in my view, staying in the game against the top teams but ultimately coming up short.

It’ll be a tough watch against (probably) France but we’ll all get behind them at the time no doubt.

You’re quite right, my apologies to the brigade. Don’t think it’s a strange comparison though, there are people on here who would like England to fail purely so they can say I told you so about Southgate.

Forgot Gareth is out the back warming the balls up to give us an easy draw. His international record goes up against anyone as top class in tournaments.

Possibly, but even the brigade don't want us relegated....do they?

We’ve actually got the hardest group if measured by world rankings, not that they are particularly reliable.

Does the Championship stop during the tournament? We could potentially lose a few players including the 2 keepers.

Wrong about Southgate?

England should be European champions. No ifs, no buts, we absolutely should be. But we aren’t. Because of **** tactics and a really bad game plan. An almost dyche-esque response to a game if ever I saw one.

Dyche in by the way….

Southgate’s done everything asked of him and more . Sure we had some easy ties in the WC and a home euros with ( Germany aside ) a rather pleasant half of the draw. That said we beat EVERYONE we should have ,and only came up short against a superb Belgium side (WC) and lost a bluddy pen shoot out in the euros to Italy . Non too shabby IMO. We should canter through this group and hopefully be good enough to go toe to toe with anyone .

Put Wales ranking in for the 4th team and the average drops to 12, lowest.

Surely, how hard the group is measured by the difference between the lowest ranked and the average?

Only if you’re looking for something that’s not there. England are seeded, and as such are ranked higher than the rest of the group. Most of the seeded teams have relatively straightforward groups on paper.

Not really a proper group of death this time. Brazil's could be interesting, as could Argentina against Poland and Mexico.

I could scarcely believe the draw as it came out - not least as my fourth pick was originally going to be Scotland, but it a spate of optimism, I assumed that Ukraine would beat them and that meant they'd get into the quatar group or my lot would get through in which case we'd inevitably get Belgium again.

We only avoided Belgium in the group stage in euro 96 by playing them 3 times in other parts of the competition w2 d1 l0. Now I'd settle for playing them a third time in this competition.

I've not worked out who wins yet, sorry. It takes all the fun out of it.
