Very easy to defend in your own 6 yard box in a defensive shape, totally different ball game defending 1v1 with a high line against quality players. He hasn't got the pace, distribution or awareness for a top side. I agree about Collins, he's got the pace and quality on the ball to make it to the very top.

A world class back 3 of Keane, Tarkowski and Mee!

When is the overspending review?
Everton are taking the pxxx and seem to be getting away with it.

Not sure that Everton isn't a poisoned chalice, maybe their problems can be put in the past, but I would wish Tarks nothing but the best. He deserves to land on his feet, he's earned it for giving us 110% for the last 2 years.

This is what I can’t understand. They’ve been linked with about 20 players. I thought they couldn’t spend any more money?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 4:42 amWhen is the overspending review?

Re: Tarkowski to Everton
Good luck to Tarky but I really, really, really hope we have a case to stuff them over their FFP issues. It is taking the mick really because they should never have been able to spend what they did, and are.
Re: Tarkowski to Everton
They don't seem to have any restrictions. They worked with the regulator (the PL) on how to get their figures within the limit last time round, and they have already said that they are doing that again.
As far as the PL is concerned, they did not have a problem with the figures last year and therefore there is no reason why they can't continue as they are.

The whole football finances are a total joke
Certainly some teams are immune and do what they like re spending (Everton) while others (Derby ) get points deduction after deduction.

Will be interesting to see if JT gets picked again for England, now he plays for Everton.

An incredible 6 1/2 years comes to an end. I’ve loved every minute of playing for this fantastic football club. So grateful for the opportunity i was given to join and live my dream of playing in the Premier League. Going to miss all the brothers I’ve gained over the years, what a pleasure it has been. I hope to see this club back where it belongs in the near future. I’ll be back at Turf Moor cheering on the Clarets at every opportunity I get. Thanks for everything #UTC

Good on him getting a large pay rise.......he's earned it!
Re: Tarkowski to Everton
I genuinely thought Tarks would go to Man U, he is that good IMHO , why join a team that is propped up by dodgy money whilst the regulators look the other way.
Re: Tarkowski to Everton
He comes across in his Instagram post as very appreciative of the time he has spent with us and his wish to see us back at the top table of English football. Nice to see is that. Good luck to him, he goes with my best wishes.

That’s exactly where I thought he’d end up. I am surprised he’s going Everton (according to reports), think he could’ve done much better.

Some great photos of Tarky on that instagram post especially the one with Ronaldo. That will probably end up in a frame on Ronaldos wall.

Re: Tarkowski to Everton
Hope it works out for him.
Personally think he's better than a move to Everton though.
We've had two outstanding CB pairings in the last decade, featuring 3 excellent players.
For me, Tarks is the best CB in my lifetime of being a Claret.

Not seen tarkowski announced yet, what's the hold up, considering the medical was midweek, on a free, seems strange.

Re: Tarkowski to Everton
The reason he's not featured more for England imo is that he's too slow, if he does attempt to play out from the back as Southgate prefers he too often gets caught, which is why he inevitably always ended up with a hoof when playing out from the back with us, and consequently why it came straight back putting us on the back foot such a lot, and why dyche was so fixed on having 10 men behind the ball, Maybe if we'd had better midfield to play into it could have been different who knows, One theory I believe him to be too slow is that he's too bulked up, needed to lose a bit imo. As you say giadj, I also think the ship has sailed now because wherever he goes his age is against him.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 11:21 pmI think that ship has sailed now, his age and the younger players coming through will go against him.
Re: Tarkowski to Everton
In terms of pace stopping a player getting caps... Maguire has forty-five.

Watching Maguire play for England for the last couple of seasons does rather suggest that isn't the problemalwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 10:24 amThe reason he's not featured more for England imo is that he's too slow, if he does attempt to play out from the back as Southgate prefers he too often gets caught, which is why he inevitably always ended up with a hoof when playing out from the back with us, and consequently why it came straight back putting us on the back foot such a lot, and why dyche was so fixed on having 10 men behind the ball, Maybe if we'd had better midfield to play into it could have been different who knows, One theory I believe him to be too slow is that he's too bulked up, needed to lose a bit imo. Re: Tarkowski to Everton
I was going to add in that maguire is just the same, although does seem a bit more accomplished and comfortable in progressing up the pitch himself, but then just gets caught napping when he can't get back. I always thought tbh that Keane had that extra yard to get back which is why I thought under dyche stewardship would have been a world class defender, but seems to have lost his way at Everton, probably due mainly to the constant change of manager. Perhaps what England need is a mix of maguire, Tarkowski, and Keane best qualitiesLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 10:45 amWatching Maguire play for England for the last couple of seasons does rather suggest that isn't the problem

Yes of course, and my opinion is that saying Tarkowski is slow is utter nonsense. There's simply no way he'd have been as good as he has for us against Premier League attackers had he been slow.

I don't think player for Burnley is the reason as tarkowski seems to believe, I've read more than one article that suggests he's wanted a move away to better he's chances, although we can't believe everything we see in the press.
