Suspect there will be more chance of three in midfield under VK, which will suit Jack a lot better, and compensate for his age . With two in midfield it was a tall ask for Jack

I think had Jack cork had been selected more often last season, we would already know our fixture list by now. Superb player. Good signing.

Fantastic news and possibly the most important signing of the summer. To have any realistic chance of a quick return to the PL, we need a nucleus of six or so of the starting eleven against Newcastle, and we've just re-signed the heart beat. I'm delighted.

A week ago it was reported that both Vydra and Cork were in talks. Only Cork has been confirmed by the club.

Andy is a local journalist in that he reports on Burnley. And this is really good news. Cork is the experienced midfielder we need.
Cannot disagree about Cork...... Not sure I agree Andy is local, its just that he reports on Burnley, and has better contacts than the established local journalists, where once upon a time we relied on them for news

He's as local as the other two - they all do the same job, just for different publications, none of which are local.

Really pleased with this. As others have said, it's vital that we retain a core of experienced players to go alongside some of the new, younger signings we're likely to be making.

Am delighted with this news

A great player that also seems loyal to Burnley

Who knows if we would still be in the premier league if he hasn’t been dropped for Westy.

Met him when he played in his first spell under Brian Laws - seemed a really decent guy.

A think that is what CT meant with “as local as the other two…”, none are locally based. I think A Jones is London.

Fair enough. The Andrew Jones (sports journalist) I know of works from London. In that case I apologise, I got Tony’s inference wrong.

No problem at all..... I just find it strange that the local journalists, who to be fair, their main job is to report on Burnley, are so far behind at times with news like this, do they not have contact with players, agents etc...

Good news at the beginning of preseason training. Hopefully he can start in the majority of games in the Champ this coming season. We may need another option in centre mid, but if we can keep hold of Brownhill and with Westy coming back later on this year and potentially one or two youngsters coming through, this area shouldn't be a priority for us to strengthen. We do need to move the ball quicker on this area of the park though compared to last season. Hopefully Kompany's influence will help with this.

I can't get excited by this. People enthusing that with Brownhill and Westwood back we have a good midfield. Those 3 are one of the main reasons we are playing in the Championship next season. They have no pace, no creativity, no physical presence and the reason we played so many long balls was to bypass the midfield as it was not fit for purpose. And the reason our defenders and keepers come top in shots blocked and saved is because the opposition run straight through our midfield.

Cork was the main reason we got anywhere near surviving, Dyche was adamant that Westwood deserved his place even when putting in 4/10’s week after week. We at least completed passes once he came back in the team during Jackson’s stint.

Would tend to agree.

I wouldn’t have been averse to a one year deal for Cork (but understand why he’d have wanted a two year deal) but I have my doubts that he’ll be able to cope with the physicality of a 46 game season nearing the twilight of his career.

I’m hoping Brownhill will shine next season, though.

I’m hoping VK drops a decent amount on a box to box midfielder with a range of passing to complement Cork once he’s run the rule over what he has.

Great stuff we'll need some experience in the team/squad if we're getting a load of youngsters in. We looked a much better team when Jack was back in.

He's our best technical midfielder

We are losing an awfully large amount of players, and his experience and know how will be vital

I think Cork is one of those players you sometimes don’t fully appreciate but notice so much when he’s not playing.
Just a pity Dyche didn’t realise this.

Some midfield that in the championship if we could get Wallace in, especially if we get Taylor and Roberts overlapping

If that’s not the case I take it back
