It’s only a good idea playing them if the intention is to keep them. If it’s a shop window job your manager has to quickly adapt to be without them on 1 Sept.

I’m happy with Kompany’s Cornet approach. If he doesn’t think he’ll be here next month, it makes sense to work with the players who will.
The way I look it is, at the top and bottom of the league, the margins are usually very fine. Who would’ve thought a scrappy Bamford equaliser last August would be the difference between staying up & going down? (Re: that game, btw, despite being the last in August, no Cornet as we hadn’t bought him/Dyche fit - can’t recall).

If we’re hoping for promotion, we need our best players on the pitch for every game.

Re: Watford, I can’t see them holding on to Dennis or Sarr at all. But last night Sarr’s brilliance created a goal in a game Sheff U may otherwise have nicked a point.

We were brilliant on Friday, but I honestly can’t recall troubling the keeper apart from the goal and Robert’s save + Twine effort he wouldn’t have got to. I think the other ones were comfortable catches more than saves.

I just think whilst we’re paying the lad he should be contributing and we should be benefiting from his undoubted ability. I don’t want a scrappy draw/loss against Luton or Watford costing us a promotion/play off place because we didn’t play him. I’m content with selling him & whatever impacts that brings, but I’d like to see him play whilst here.

Kompany did say he’d need to start being “interested to the Matchday process” though, so remains to be seen.

I totally agree with colburn claret, vincent has and will base his stategy on man city style of play....high press, quick accurate passing.free ranging
full backs etc,Teams have been trying for several seasons to combat it,but without success. I was amazed at the clarets transformation, and so
pleased with the new attitude......The transformation of players like brownhill i though he was fantastic,as were many others.they appeared to be
really enjoying playing the new system,as did the clarets support....LOVE IT,
fantastic away following ,and keep playing so well and support will multiply..PROUD TO BE A CLARET

These 2 should be involved in the PO shake at the very least, and our trip to Watford will test our new look defence if both Dennis and Sarr play, so hopefully by then one or both will have moved on.

If Watford can somehow manage to retain both, then they'll probably have the best strike partnership in the division.

An important win for Rob Edwards, it might buy him another couple of weeks in his new job, though with Watford who knows.

“We need our best players on the pitch for every game” we do I couldn’t agree more but the fly in the ointment is that we’ve sold them all or are in the process of doing so, some like JT maybe even BM were out of contract & going anyway but it would have been more advantageous retaining a couple (contracted) & more or less having a stronger likelihood of promotion instead of cashing in & playing a gamble. Failure to get promoted will rest with them decisions.

If Watford keep Sarr and Dennis they will surely finish in the top 2 but on last night’s form they together with Pedro will be hot property. Brighton and Southampton are desperate for forwards so must be a fair chance one at least is sold. I firmly believe in VK’s approach. If players want out, get as good a price as possible reinvest in young talent that want to play for you and go again. No point looking backwards. Impossible to have a trace of negativity after last Friday. I’m another near sixty year old who feels like a kid again watching that level of football.

Teams have been looking for a strategy to beat City, and they've been watching them for years. It doesn't matter what the opposition do, IF we play and improve on how we played at Huddersfield.
Not getting carried away, we are still short a striker, and Huddersfield weren't physical at all. There will be harder games to come, even if nobody had seen us play, but it was a great first step.
100% agree, I thought we played really really well.
Just don’t want to be getting to carried away yet.
