The officials running VAR, for the prem, are either following orders, or just inept.

One VAR which was odd today, was the Ericsson foul. The ref was on the spot and decided that it was OK to play on - no foul. Later, in the other half of the pitch a goal is scored and VAR refer to the foul incident and ask the ref to say he was wrong, which makes the goal ruled out. That is bizarre. The original decision was live and on field. Ref decides in that moment. He should have said that to VAR.

Var is a long way from perfect but making appointments like Lee Mason is simply insane

It was crap when it was launched and years later it still is. It was devised to give tv some more controversy to waffle & bs about.
I’d rather have the appalling decisions this year have var back.

Human error is always going to be a factor with VAR

Saying that even the binary technology used for the goals can get it wrong as Huddersfield found out to their cost yesterday

Was always going to be a recipe for chaos, and quelle surprise we had a weekend of chaos mainly involving the said Lee Mason.

The thing is Stproc is like you said it was crap when it was launched, but you would have thought it would have improved as they get more used to it,the thing is it's worse now than when it started ten times worse...a great concept being run by idiots was never going to work

Smacks of the Villa-Sheff Utd farce from 2020, which played a major part in Villa surviving by the skin of their teeth.

And if the tech doesn't even work for seeing whether the ball has crossed the goal line or not that really is a cause for concern.

VAR should only over-rule clear and obvious errors by the on field referee. Any Var footage that requires extensive review to determine precisely what happened is not clear and obvious. Blatant handball or foul play that the ref did not see is clear and obvious.

I see semi-automated offside is now being used in CL matches:

If VAR is to continue, I would take any decision making away from the referee and let VAR be responsible for any decisions. The ref is just there to run the game and communicate with the players on the field.

Whilst we have had many many bad var decisions, the worst I've seen yet is the one in the Juventus match last weekend. Absolutely disgraceful. But also very funny given its juventus on the receiving end.

I can't believe that something that has been implemented for 5 years+ and shown no functional improvement whilst damaging the enjoyment of the game as a whole is something that all the authorities are still blindly plowing on with.

If it continues to be an overall negative addition and shows no improvement will there ever be a stage where it's continued use is reviewed or are we just stuck with it regardless of whether it "works"?

We will be stuck with it until FIFA manage to oversee the 'perfect' game of football. That will never happen, therefore, we are stuck with it and there will be additional concepts, such as the replacement of ARs at the top level by robot technology.
This will all continue until the game as we have known it disappears up its own ar se
